Party member Dang Thi Dan always believes that learning and following Uncle Ho's example, combined with the task of developing the local economy and helping people eliminate poverty, is the most practical thing to do.
Nam So is increasingly innovative.
From a desolate border area covered with reeds, this land has now become fertile in the heart of the valley. From a village with 100% poor households, it has now become a "bright spot" with nearly 80% of households being quite rich. The changes in the border village of Nam So, Ban Phiet commune, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province have a strong imprint of party members like Ms. Dang Thi Dan - the pioneer in reclaiming land, opening a way out of poverty for this land.
Exactly 20 years ago, Ms. Dang Thi Dan was one of the first households to volunteer to move to Nam So land under the policy of migrating to the border. At that time, this place was still a strip of wasteland, with poor transportation and lack of arable land. Backward customs and farming practices caused hunger and poverty to cling to each Mong and Dao household. Not afraid of hardships and difficulties, as the village chief, Ms. Dan was determined to carry out a revolution to change the thinking of each person.

Mrs. Dan recalls: "At first, everyone here wanted to have many children. People said that having many children was good. But after being informed and seeing that land was limited, when the state granted land and settled down, people only had 1-2 children. When it came to marriage, people no longer asked for high prices. They had to marry their children off when they were 18 years old and strictly followed the state's laws."
When people gradually abandoned bad customs and started to settle down, Ms. Dan went everywhere to bring good models and valuable crops to Nam So. This female party member mobilized people to plant pineapple, cinnamon, and banana trees, then expanded livestock and aquaculture.
Sharing about the achievements after 10 years of persistently sticking to the border to develop the economy with the dedicated help of the village chief Dang Thi Dan, Ms. Tan Thi Tich, a resident of Nam So village, Ban Phiet commune, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province, recalled that in the past, her family was very poor. Thanks to Ms. Dan, she taught her how to do business, grow trees, grow cinnamon, grow pineapples to sell for a little money. Gradually, Ms. Tich's family became more prosperous.
After 20 years of land reclamation, Nam So is now changing its skin and flesh every day. High-rise buildings appear and disappear behind lush forest canopies; clean concrete roads; a new way of life is emerging in this border village, with no small contribution from pioneering party members like Mrs. Dan.
Mrs. Dan encouraged people to grow pineapple, cinnamon, and bananas to develop the economy.
64 years old, 23 years in the party, the contributions of female Dao party member Dang Thi Dan have added strength and confidence to the people in the border villages. Believing in and following the Party and Uncle Ho, each Nam So resident has been making efforts to build a peaceful , stable and developed border.
Party member Dang Thi Dan shared: "If you want people to follow you, you have to take the lead. If you say you will do it. If you can't do it, don't say it. If you say it right, people will listen. If people do well, it motivates me to work tirelessly."
