Recently, according to Decision 724/QD-CTN signed by the President on June 22, 77 individuals were awarded the title of People's Artist. On November 28, President Vo Van Thuong also signed Decision 1431/QD-CTN, including 42 individuals awarded the title of People's Artist.

In this list, Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy continues to be "absent" as the veteran actress has held the title of Meritorious Artist for too long, causing the public to once again be concerned, worried and regretful.

Dan Tri reporter contacted Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy, she said that in the past few days, she has received many questions and concerns from people about the fact that her name was not on the list of people awarded the title of People's Artist for the 10th time.

There is even information and some people misunderstand that she was awarded the title but did not accept it.

Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy expressed her gratitude for always receiving the love of the audience over the years, and at the same time, the female artist also corrected: "It's not that I was awarded the title of People's Artist but didn't accept it, but because I never applied, how could my name be on the list of consideration or award?"

In response to the question: "Why did Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy not apply for the title of People's Artist? That would be a huge disadvantage?", the female artist said that since applying for the title of Meritorious Artist, she has been worried because of the many complicated paperwork.

Therefore, from that time on, the female artist was no longer interested and also determined never to apply for the title again.

"Honestly, I feel happy for my friends and colleagues because they were awarded the title of People's Artist. However, on this artistic path, each person has a different perspective and purpose.

For me, the biggest, only and happiest goal is to be able to do my job. If the role is successful, it is a joy, but if it is not as expected, I just think that my talent is limited and hope for the audience's "sympathy". I just think that simply!", Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy shared.

It can be seen that the consideration and conferment of the title of People's Artist for the 10th time still has shortcomings and endless controversies. Not only Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy but also a number of other artists did not submit a request for consideration.

The reporter asked: "Many artists have expressed that the public and managers know what they have contributed, their talent and reputation. So why do they still need to apply for the title of People's Artist? What is your opinion?"

Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy replied: "If we don't do the paperwork and procedures, the State cannot know and understand clearly what contributions that person has made, what their reputation and career are in order to consider or confer the title.

However, I think that the grassroots level should propose, but I agree with the above point of view that artists must submit applications to present, declare and list their achievements to be recognized. That is, "Why do we have to request to submit applications to "request" those things?", Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy said.

Also according to Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy, whoever does any job or profession, if they have a heart, they will devote themselves to that profession.

She shared that when the State conferred or honored her, her relatives also felt honored and happy. However, knowing her personality, everyone respected the artist's decision.

"At this age, I just want to live a simple, peaceful life. After completing the application, I still hope, think or worry about whether I will be accepted or not. It's so tiring!", she said.

In response to the question: "Many people affirm that just being a "people's artist" is the greatest happiness, the love of the audience is the most valuable reward for them, but what about Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy?", the veteran artist said that she did not dare to affirm and accept such great things.

"I always keep in mind that to achieve something in art, to gain recognition from the audience and colleagues, it is extremely difficult and arduous.

There are times when I meet an audience member on the street and they say to me: "Miss! After watching your movie, I immediately flew home from abroad because I miss and miss my mother so much!" That is a joy for me.

"People's artist" is a great thing, the road to success is still far away. I just try my best," Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy confided.
