Djokovic took 1 hour and 43 minutes to beat Sinner 6-3, 6-3 as the Serb continues to reach new heights at the age of 36. He started 2023 with a 10th Australian Open title and then won his 23rd Grand Slam at Roland Garros, breaking Rafael Nadal's record. After losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final, Djokovic won the US Open and closed 2023 with a seventh ATP Finals title.

"It's definitely one of the best seasons of my career," Djokovic said after his win over Sinner. "It's incredible to win against the Italian hero Sinner, he's been playing fantastically all week."
Before the 2023 ATP Finals, Djokovic and Roger Federer shared the record of winning the tournament six times. However, the Serbian has now surpassed them, claiming a new record.
"I'm very proud of the performance in the last two days against Alcaraz and Sinner, probably at the moment they are the two best players in the world next to me and Medvedev. The way they played made me have to improve my level," Djokovic added.
"I had to win games, not wait for them to hand me the wins and that's what I did. I played a different strategy than I did in the group stage against Sinner, overall it was an incredible week."

This was Djokovic's fourth win over Sinner, the 22-year-old had his first win over Djokovic in the group stage and became the first Italian man to reach the ATP Finals final.
Djokovic has won the No. 1 ranking for the eighth time, today he officially reached the 400th week at the world No. 1 position in the ATP rankings.
This is only the second time in 15 years that a player has reached the final of all four Grand Slam tournaments and the ATP Finals. The last time it happened was in 2015 when Djokovic achieved that feat.
Djokovic's son and daughter witnessed him compete in the ATP Finals and the Serbian appeared excited to play in front of his family.
"My kids have had a lot of fun playing tennis these past few days. It's been a thrill," Djokovic said of playing in front of his son Stefan and daughter Tara. "I always wanted to perform in front of my kids when they reach the age where they understand what's going on. I think they're aware of everything now and I'm very grateful to be the father of these two wonderful kids. They bring me so much happiness and joy in my life, they give me strength."
