On February 27, Mr. Pham Van Binh - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai province said that agricultural product exports in the first months of 2024 showed positive signs, especially strong growth in product value.
The reason is that the world market's consumer demand increased, especially during the New Year holiday in some markets such as the EU and the US. In addition, China's lifting of its Zero Covid policy has stimulated consumer demand to increase again.
Many Vietnamese agricultural products such as bananas, passion fruit, durian, bird's nest, sweet potatoes, etc. are officially exported to China. As for coffee, at the beginning of the year, the volume of goods was still large, so a lot was exported. Coffee prices increased sharply, so the export value also increased compared to the same period in 2023.
The Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) helps Gia Lai's agricultural products reach the world market, achieving high revenue. In 2023 alone, Hoa Trang Gia Lai Import Export Company Limited (headquartered in Pleiku City) supplied the market with 60,000 tons of green coffee beans. Of which, the export volume to the markets of Europe, the US, Japan, Singapore, and China accounted for 80%, reaching nearly 100 million USD.
In the first two months of 2024, the company's export turnover reached 18 million USD. The company committed to purchasing products for people at a price 200-300 VND/kg higher than the market price. Production according to standards helps the company expand its export market.
In 2024, Hung Son High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company aims to increase export output by 20% with about 24,000 tons of bananas, with revenue reaching 400 billion VND. The company plans to invest 10-15 billion VND to install a drip irrigation system, upgrade production lines, package products, buy drones to manage pests and diseases in the garden...
According to Mr. Pham Van Binh - Director of Gia Lai Department of Industry and Trade, to increase agricultural exports, the unit actively connects and supports businesses in many activities to expand and promote export markets. Support businesses in market information, production processes, traceability, building codes for growing and farming areas, dialogue with businesses to support the removal of barriers to serve production and export.
