Agriculture, forestry and fishery trade surplus of 6.53 billion USD in the first 5 months of the year

DNVN - According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the trade surplus value of agriculture, forestry and fishery products in the first 5 months is estimated at 6.53 billion USD, an increase of 64.5%.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the first five months of 2024, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products is estimated at 24.14 billion USD, up 21% over the same period last year. The trade surplus of agricultural, forestry and fishery products is estimated at 6.53 billion USD, up 64.5%.

Specifically, in May alone, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 5.06 billion USD, an increase of 11.2% over the same period in 2023. Accordingly, agricultural products reached 2.73 billion USD, an increase of 14.3%; forestry products 1.35 billion USD, an increase of 17.9%; livestock 45.8 million USD, an increase of 10.2%; aquatic products 780 million USD, a decrease of 3.5%...

In the first 5 months, most agricultural, forestry and fishery product groups increased. Agricultural products: 13.11 billion USD, up 27.7%; forestry products: 6.58 billion USD, up 22.7%; aquatic products: 3.5 billion USD, up 3.6%; livestock: 199 million USD, up 5.6%.

Most of the key agricultural, forestry and fishery export products are higher than the same period in 2023.

Most of the key export items are higher than the same period in 2023 such as wood and wood products, coffee, rice, cashew, vegetables, fruits, and shrimp. The average export price of items also increased. The US, China, and Japan continue to be the three largest import markets for agricultural, forestry, and fishery products with growth rates of 23.9%, 8.6%, and 6.6%, respectively.

Currently, the domestic supply of vegetables and fruits is abundant and relatively stable. Many agricultural products are in harvest season.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development directed units to grasp the production situation of key fruit trees for export such as dragon fruit, longan, mango, and durian. At the same time, it guided localities to regulate production plans and promote exports.
