Control of nematodes and yellow leaf and root rot

On March 25, Syngenta Vietnam Company launched the plant protection product Vaniva® 45SC, which specializes in treating nematodes that cause yellow leaves and root rot in plants.

The product was launched and participated in the process of killing nematodes and preventing yellow leaves and root rot on crops, after 5,000 field trials with hundreds of crops in more than 60 countries.

"Completely eliminating nematodes and maximally preventing yellow leaves and root rot has been effectively handled by Vaniva® 45SC," affirmed Mr. Tran Thanh Vu - General Director of Syngenta Vietnam Company.

Mr. Vu said that with the mechanism of destroying nematodes that attack the roots, the product Vaniva 45SC brings a breakthrough effect in completely destroying nematodes.

In addition to killing nematodes, Vaniva 45SC also protects the root system from harmful fungi in the soil, thereby providing the most effective control of nematodes and yellow leaf and root rot today.

Mr. Phan Viet Ha, Deputy Director of the Central Highlands Forestry Science and Technology Institute, discussed Vaniva 45SC and the core technology TYMIRIUM®: "The root system is very sensitive but lives in a complex environment including fungi and microorganisms.

When the protective layer is punctured by nematodes, in addition to nematodes, opportunistic fungi in the soil will also have the opportunity to attack the inside of the roots, causing yellow leaves and root rot.

By the time farmers see clear symptoms, the plants have reached a stage where they cannot be saved. In the Central Highlands, nematode disease is a suffering for coffee and durian farmers.

Dr. Ha said that in 2024, the Central Highlands Forestry Science and Technology Institute coordinated with Syngenta Vietnam to conduct a trial of Vaniva 450SC on durian trees in the Central Highlands region.

"From practical testing, we recorded very positive results, very high effectiveness in preventing nematodes on durian trees, with an efficiency of nearly 100%.

Thanks to that, all indicators such as new root growth, new shoot growth, and new leaf growth are about 25% higher than the control, and crop yield is 5.5 tons/ha higher than the control," said Mr. Ha.

No adverse effects on soil quality

Ms. Cathy Wei, Marketing and Business Development Director of AMEA region of Syngenta, explained: "We have researched for 15 years and on more than 100 crops in 60 countries around the world and introduced the technology in Europe, Australia, Korea... before launching in Vietnam.

Vaniva® 450SC has a mechanism of action that helps kill all nematodes in the soil, maximally prevents fungi from entering and causing root rot in plants, helping to comprehensively protect plant roots.

This product contains the active ingredient Cyclobutrifluram which penetrates deep into the nematode's skin and disables its respiratory activity.

From there, nematodes and soil fungi will be quickly paralyzed and completely destroyed, helping to protect the plant's roots completely.

In particular, Vaniva 450SC also helps the root system to grow strong and large, absorb nutrients better, plants recover quickly, new shoots grow stronger, leaves are greener and thicker, increase photosynthesis, help plants become healthier, creating the premise for a bumper crop.

Ms. Cathy Wei emphasized: "The mechanism of Vaniva 450SC does not cause adverse effects on soil quality, nor does it have the effect of eliminating beneficial microorganisms for plants.

Thus, Vaniva 450SC can be said to have no negative impact on sustainable agricultural activities".
