(Fatherland) - On the evening of November 2, in Lang Son province, the Organizing Committee of the 11th Northeast Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in 2024 held the Opening Ceremony of the Festival. The program was broadcast live on VTV2; rebroadcast on VTV5, Vietnam Television and Radio and Television of 8 provinces and cities participating in the Festival.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Festival, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung stated that the 11th Northeast Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Lang Son province, in coordination with the Central Committees, Ministries, Branches and People's Committees of the Northeast provinces, is an event to honor the fine traditional cultural values ​​of the Northeast ethnic groups in the unified and diverse culture of the community of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups; practically and effectively implement the goals and tasks of developing Vietnamese culture and people in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, in particular, to concretize the Conclusion of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 2021 National Cultural Conference on the task of reviving and developing Vietnamese culture.

The Minister said that, deeply aware of the role of culture in the sustainable development of the country, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has closely followed the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State, actively coordinated with ministries, branches and localities to implement many activities and programs to preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of ethnic groups. The organization of this Festival is a concrete demonstration in the implementation of the viewpoints, tasks and resolutions set forth by the Party. In particular, focusing on preserving and promoting the unique cultural heritages of ethnic groups in general, ethnic minorities in the Northeast region in particular, contributing to promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam, creating endogenous strength for the nation to realize the aspiration for a strong Vietnam.

According to the Minister, through the rich and attractive activities at the Festival, such as: Mass art festival; Performance of traditional costumes of ethnic groups; Performance and introduction of festival excerpts, cultural rituals; Exhibition, introduction and promotion of local traditional culture; Exhibition, processing and introduction of culinary arts; Sports activities and folk games; Tourism promotion and advertising activities, Scientific Workshop "Cultural tourism in the Northeast region - Source and development" and many other attractive activities contribute to introducing and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic groups in the Northeast region to domestic and international friends.

In particular, the Festival is an opportunity for artisans, actors, and mass athletes of all ethnic groups to participate in exchanges, share experiences, raise awareness and responsibility in building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the country. With the theme "Northeast Culture - Identity of integration and outreach", through the activities of the Festival, ethnic people in the Northeastern provinces will promote the spirit of solidarity, share love, help each other overcome all difficulties, overcome the consequences of natural disasters, quickly rebuild a peaceful, stable and developed life.

At the ceremony, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien and Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Doan presented flags to representatives of artisans from the delegations participating in the Festival.

The highlight of the opening ceremony was the art program with the theme "Northeast - Pride and Shine". The program lasted 60 minutes and was elaborately invested in and built on a grand scale, with highly artistic performances imbued with national cultural identity. The opening performance gathered more than 400 artists, professional actors, extras and artisans from various localities.

The art program consists of 3 chapters: Chapter 1: Colors of the Northeast; Chapter 2: Northeast - Glorious epic; Chapter 3: Northeast - Pride and brilliance, bringing the audience beyond geographical space to the unity in diversity of the unique cultural identity of the ethnic communities in the Northeast region.
