Recently, the Miss Grand International 2024 contest ended with a rather noisy season. In particular, the fact that Myanmar beauty Thae Su Nyein had her 2nd runner-up title revoked attracted attention.
Before being stripped of her crown by the Miss Grand organization, the 17-year-old beauty strongly declared that she would return the title, affirming: "I came to the contest to win the title of Miss, not to be the second runner-up."

Thae Su Nyein has been considered one of the outstanding contestants since the beginning of this year's season. The beauty, who is not yet 18 years old, has a beautiful face, good performance skills, and fluent communication skills. However, Thae Su Nyein has been involved in some controversies about her behavior throughout the competition.
In a recent livestream, President of the Miss Grand Organization Nawat commented on the beauty who was recently stripped of her crown. He said that the 17-year-old beauty met many of his criteria and had made constant efforts, but her behavior and emotional management were her limitations.
"Compared to her age, she is very good, but to talk about maturity is not enough. As we saw, she could not stand firmly and when the reporter wanted to interview her, she disappeared," Mr. Nawat recalled the incident in the final night.
After the final night, Thae Su Nyein cried and could not stand. She was taken away by the Miss Grand Myanmar team immediately after. She was also absent from many events of the Miss Grand organization.
The Miss Grand Organization has announced that it has revoked the title of Second Runner-up of the Myanmar beauty queen due to her inappropriate behavior and violation of many regulations.

The president of the Miss Grand organization also believes that Thae Su Nyein only deserves to be in the top 10, and his organization has been very generous in letting her win the title of 2nd runner-up.
He explained why Thae Su Nyein could not become Miss: "During the competition, the Myanmar beauty demanded a lot. She needed someone to carry her luggage, take care of her appearance, and always have someone to help her choose her outfit like a machine.
She doesn't know how to manage and control her emotions. With such a personality, she cannot be worthy of the highest position, because a beauty queen needs to be independent and able to move independently."
It is known that the results of the Miss Grand 2024 contest were chosen entirely by Mr. Nawat - the Chairman of the contest without relying on the judges. The fact that the contest did not use judges is an unprecedented precedent in beauty contests.

Mr. Nawat told the media: "I don't believe in judges. They are just hired workers and only see the girls perform overnight, not following the contestants every day like me.
All the staff of the Miss Grand organization are judges who observe the contestants. They will give me their opinions and I will make the final decision. The beauty queen works for the organization so I know what it takes to find the right person."
The back-and-forth between the Miss Grand Myanmar and Miss Grand Myanmar organizations has seriously affected the image and reputation of the contest. Currently, the number of followers on Instagram has dropped by nearly 300,000 after the final night.
Beauties stripped of Miss Grand pageant crowns
President Nawat has repeatedly punished the beauties of the Miss Grand pageant. In 2022, 5th runner-up Yuvna Rinishta (Mauritius) announced that she would voluntarily give up her title because she disagreed with the behavior of the Miss Grand organization.

In response, the organization announced that Yuvna's title had been revoked because she had failed to fulfill her obligations. Her image was immediately removed from the official website of the pageant, replaced by Roberta Angela Tamondong (Philippines).
In 2015, the Miss Grand organization also revoked the crowns of two beauties. The original winner of the 2015 edition was Anea Garcia, representing the Dominican Republic, but only 5 months later, she was dethroned due to her unavailability to work. The Miss Grand organization said that they had to postpone many of Anea's schedules and flights.

The beauty Anea and the Miss Grand organization got into an argument. Afterwards, Anea took the initiative to return the crown and accused the organization of publishing inaccurate information. The Miss Grand organization pointed out that Anea had told lies, frequently violated regulations, and affected the overall operation.
Then, Australian beauty - Claire Elizabeth Parker - was chosen to replace Anea as Miss Peace 2015. She completed her term smoothly. However, in 2019, beauty Claire Elizabeth Parker was stripped of the title of Miss Peace 2015 because she registered to participate in the Miss Universe pageant.
The beauty born in 1991 accepted to give up the title of Miss Peace 2015 to pursue her passion. That is also the reason why the title of Miss Peace 2015 was left vacant.

Miss Grand Organization's selection criteria for beauty queens
The Miss Grand International pageant is among the top six international beauty pageants that attract the most attention today. Although the pageant is relatively young compared to Miss Universe, Miss World or Miss International, Miss Grand International still has a large audience and has attracted media attention throughout its 12 seasons.
The contest was founded and run by veteran Thai businessman and MC, Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil. The contest was initially held only in Thailand, but later, many countries bought the copyright of the contest and sent beauties to participate.
Talking about the criteria for selecting beauty queens, Mr. Nawat affirmed that the winner of the organization must meet 4B including: Beauty - Body - Brain - Business.
The President of Miss Grand always praises Miss Grand 2021 - Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (Photo: MGI).
Mr. Nawat shared: "The chosen beauty queen must be someone who is willing to work and has a good attitude. She must be able to do everything on her own. Our organization does not choose beauty queens based on the jury. It's my organization, my money, so I have to be the one to make the final decision to find a beauty queen who has the ability to help me make money."
Previously, Mr. Nawat praised Vietnamese beauty Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (Miss Grand Prix 2021) for bringing in a huge amount of money for the organization during her tenure.
In a livestream in April 2022, Mr. Nawat revealed that within 3 months of being crowned, Thuy Tien had brought in 2-3 million USD for the organization. To this day, Mr. Nawat still has affection and many compliments for the only Vietnamese representative to be crowned Miss at the Miss Grand arena.
