Tools to help check 5G coverage where you live

5G networks are expanding coverage, but cannot cover the whole country yet

Since the beginning of October, major network operators in Vietnam have begun to cover 5G networks in most provinces and cities nationwide, after a long period of testing 5G broadcasting only in major cities. However, due to infrastructure limitations, the 5G network still does not have as large a coverage area as the previous 3G or 4G networks, which is why many people are using smartphones that support 5G networks and have activated and registered for 5G packages but can still only connect to 4G. So how do you know which areas in the province or city you live in have 5G broadcasting? The following tools will help you.

Speedtest app on smartphone

Speedtest, developed by the US software company Ookla, is a popular tool used by many people in Vietnam in particular and around the world in general to check the connection speed of the Internet, including both fixed and mobile networks. In addition to the feature of checking network connection speed, Speedtest also allows users to check the coverage of mobile networks, such as 3G, 4G and 5G networks. The feature of checking mobile network coverage is only equipped on the Speedtest application version for smartphones. Android users can download Speedtest for free here and iPhone users can download the application here. After installing and activating the application on your smartphone, from the main interface of Speedtest, click on the "Map" button in the menu below. Here, Speedtest will display the coverage of network operators in the area you live in, in which the dark blue part shows 5G coverage and the light blue part shows 4G LTE waves.

On this map interface, pull up the menu from the bottom to select the network operator you are using.

Each network operator will have a different coverage area. Based on this map, you can know which areas of the 5G network are covered in where you live.

nPerf application on smartphone

Similar to Speedtest, nPerf is an application that allows smartphone users to check the network connection speed on the device as well as allows users to check the coverage areas of mobile networks, including 3G, 4G and 5G. Compared to Speedtest, nPerft's 5G network coverage map is more complete and detailed. Android users can download the nPerft application here and iPhone users can download the application here. After downloading and installing the application, the first time using nPerf, users press "Allow" to grant permissions to this application.

After completing the setup steps, click on the settings button in the upper left corner of the main application interface, select "Report & speed map" from the menu that appears.

Here, nPerf will display mobile network coverage areas throughout Vietnam. Click on the location icon in the upper right corner for the application to automatically find the area you live in based on the GPS signal on your smartphone.

nPerft will display the 3G, 4G, 4G+ and 5G coverage areas where you live, with purple areas meaning 5G coverage. Click the blue button below to select a mobile network provider to view the corresponding 5G coverage map. Based on the information provided by nPerft, users can find areas with 5G waves provided by their current network provider to experience the fastest mobile network technology available today.

For computer users

If you are using a computer and want to check the 5G network coverage map, users can access the nPerf website here. From the website that appears, you select the network operator that needs to check the 5G network coverage in the upper left corner of the map interface, then enter the name of the province or city where you live in the search box. nPerf will display the mobile network coverage on the map.

Areas with 5G coverage are shown in purple on the map. You can zoom in and out of this map to see more clearly the areas near you that are covered by 5G networks.
