Spanish-language television station Univision Chicago said its reporter and photographer were robbed by three men wearing ski masks and carrying guns.
The suspects demanded money from the two reporters, took a camera, two bags of equipment and a personal backpack. They then fled in two prepared vehicles.
Police said no injuries were reported and no arrests have been made. Journalists were filming a story about robberies in the West Town community when the robbery took place.
The video was never aired because the camera was stolen during the newscast, according to Univision Chicago.
According to CBS 2 Chicago, at least seven robberies and two carjackings occurred in the city from the evening of August 27 to the morning of August 28.
This is the second time a group of reporters has been robbed in Chicago this month.
Raza Siddiqui, president of the National Broadcasting Workers Union Local 41, told the Sun Times he is concerned about the safety of reporters while reporting and is looking at solutions.
