Through a music event like the BlackPink show, according to many experts, we should invest in developing the entertainment industry in Vietnam, creating "waves" beyond the country.

South Korea is one of the countries with a developed entertainment industry. Korean stars are professionally built and have great influence. K-pop groups alone generate an average of about 10 billion USD (236,000 billion VND) for the country every year. Not to mention the film industry, which has developed rapidly with large revenues.
In addition, the entertainment industry also contributes to promoting the image of Korea, promoting tourism development, marketing fashion products, cosmetics and other services. From Korea's perspective, the spillover effect of the entertainment industry is huge, it is clearly a very important industry and can promote the development of our country's economy.
Since the 90s, the Hallyu wave (Korean pop culture wave) began to flourish with the coverage of Korean dramas (Kdramas) and Korean music (Kpop). To date, K-pop has become a strong industry, playing a leading role in the Korean economy. In 2021, Billboard announced that BTS was one of the 5 highest-earning music stars in the world with a revenue of about 30 million USD.
The Korea Culture and Tourism Institute estimates that BTS could earn between 700 billion won (over 12 trillion VND) and over 1,000 billion won (17 trillion VND) in profit for each concert held after the Covid-19 pandemic. BTS's global tour, BTS World Tour: Love Yourself, began in August 2018 in Korea and ended in October 2019, with 62 shows in 14 countries. This is considered the biggest tour of all time in the K-pop industry.
Last April, international media acknowledged that BlackPink's Born Pink world tour became the highest-grossing tour by a girl group in history, surpassing legendary girl groups such as Spice Girls, TLC and Destiny's Child. Behind the famous idol groups in Korea is a professionally run machine.
Dr. Nguyen Si Dung once shared: “This entertainment industry has truly become a ‘golden goose’ not only for entertainers, but also for the Korean economy. It can also become a ‘golden goose’ for entertainers and the Vietnamese economy when we do not think of it as just for entertainment…”.

Due to the rapid development of the entertainment industry as well as easy access on social networks, not only in Vietnam, but also in many Asian countries, idol culture is popular among young people, especially Korean stars. With the development of information technology, updating information around the world is no longer a distance. The two "explosive" performances of BlackPink recently showed that it is not without reason that tens of thousands of people are crazy about these 4 girls. Many young people think that the music night is worth the money, worthy of the money spent, eagerly waiting and "burning out" with their idols...
Many people criticize young people for being childish and following trivial tastes. However, young people have their own approaches to aesthetic values. Through a music event, perhaps we need to consider what we will have to do and how to invest to create waves that go beyond the national framework in the current era of globalization. The presence of BlackPink in Vietnam has attracted international attention. This is also an opportunity to introduce the image of Vietnam, and at the same time can be used to enhance the country's entertainment industry and develop tourism.
In a recent sharing, National Assembly Deputy Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, former Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts, said that the development of cultural and entertainment industries contributes to affirming the position of the cultural sector, building a positive image and attracting more tourists, helping to enhance Vietnam's international image.
Therefore, according to Mr. Son, to promote the economic power of art and promote the country's image to the world, the State needs to pay more attention to investing in cultural infrastructure and art education, providing support and creating a favorable environment for the development of cultural and creative industries.
In recent years, Vietnam's entertainment industry has made significant progress. For example, the music show "Hidden Singer" surpassed 230 million views in 2 months of broadcasting. The movie "Nha Ba Nu" also brought in revenue of nearly 19.6 million USD (460 billion VND) in less than a month. Or like male singer Son Tung M-TP, he has attracted millions of followers and billions of views on YouTube alone.
The collaboration between singer Son Tung M-TP and rapper Snoop Dogg in the MV “Give It To Me” released in 2019, “caused a storm” at the time of broadcast, creating a good impression on not only Vietnamese but also international audiences. Collaboration with international artists and foreign film studios can also help the Vietnamese entertainment industry promote and reach new markets.
Culture in general and music in particular are the most effective means of promoting tourism and the country. Therefore, it is necessary to have a "cultural lever" to promote tourism. In fact, our country's entertainment industry has a lot of potential for development, so it also needs to change, "renew itself", and create high-quality content that suits the tastes of viewers. Only by innovating can the cultural industry and entertainment industry in Vietnam maintain its competitiveness and not be out of step or "slow" in the context of the constantly changing global entertainment market.
