Many violations, Ministry of Finance proposes Ministry of Public Security to increase surprise casino inspections

The Ministry of Finance has just sent a document to the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committees of 17 provinces/cities (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang...) requesting to strengthen management of supervision, casino business and electronic games with prizes.

Casino and electronic games business is a conditional investment and business industry.

The Ministry of Finance said: Through regular and surprise inspections and information reported by the press, a number of casino and electronic game businesses have violated regulations on who is allowed to play; renting premises, renting game machines, and game tables to do business in violation of the law.

Therefore, the Ministry of Finance requests the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committees of provinces/cities to strengthen surprise inspections of casino and electronic game businesses in the area according to the provisions of law and send the inspection results to the Ministry of Finance for coordination in monitoring and handling.

The purpose is to strengthen the management and supervision of casino business activities and electronic games with prizes in accordance with the provisions of law, ensuring security, order and social safety,

According to the provisions of the Investment Law, Decree No. 03/2017/ND-CP dated January 16, 2017 of the Government on casino business, Decree No. 121/2021/ND-CP dated December 27, 2021 of the Government on business of electronic games with prizes for foreigners, casino business and electronic games with prizes are conditional investment and business sectors and professions, subject to strict control by competent state management agencies to ensure that business activities comply with the provisions of law, ensuring security, order and social safety.

The owner of the largest casino in Quang Ninh has been continuously losing money . Although tourism has opened, casino businesses in Quang Ninh have reported losses for the fourth consecutive year.
