In just a short period of time, restaurants in Thien Cam Tourist Area (Cam Xuyen, Ha Tinh) have been repeatedly robbed of many valuable seafood products.

According to the feedback of restaurant owners in Thien Cam Tourist Area, since the beginning of the tourist season until now, they have been broken into many times by thieves, stealing valuable seafood such as grouper, crab, mantis shrimp...; economic losses each time range from 2 to 4 million VND.

Business households are very upset and worried. This situation has also sounded the alarm bell about the security and order situation here.

Having been broken into three times, the most recent being on May 18, Mr. Nguyen Chu Que - owner of Que Lien restaurant (Thien Cam tourist area) was shocked because each time the thieves stole many valuable seafood products from him in large quantities.

Mr. Que said: “The first time our restaurant was robbed was on February 8, the second time was on April 30 and the third time was on May 18. Each time, the restaurant lost seafood such as: grouper, sea bass, cockles, razor clams, oysters...; estimated value from 3 - 4 million VND.

Business is tough these days, we don’t make much profit and we are very sorry to be robbed like this. In the immediate future, to prevent theft, we will install an iron gate to protect our property and be vigilant at all times.”

The tanks at Mr. Nguyen Chu Que's restaurant were previously stolen by thieves.

“The previous two times I reported the incident to the Thien Cam Town Police and the Tourist Area Management Board for handling. The units instructed me to file a report, but because I was busy with work, I let it go.

As for this time, I have filed a report with the authorities. I hope that the incident will be investigated and clarified soon to deter the subjects; at the same time, help restaurants and food businesses here to do business with peace of mind, contributing to maintaining security and order in the tourist area," added Mr. Que.

Nguyen Dac Luan's Yen Tin restaurant was also "visited" by thieves on April 12, 2022.

Also having his seafood "eaten for free" by thieves, Mr. Nguyen Dac Luan - owner of Yen Tin restaurant (Thien Cam tourist area) informed: "On April 12, 2023, my restaurant was broken into and "stolen" more than 3kg of shrimp and 2 grouper fish, worth nearly 2 million VND.

At that time, the restaurant had just opened so we did not report it to the police. However, the restaurant has increased its vigilance, added more people to stay at night; proactively installed iron doors and additional surveillance cameras to ensure safety.

The seafood display area has been carefully equipped with anti-theft iron doors by Mr. Luan.

According to Mr. Luan, although the level of anti-theft has been increased, he is still not assured, because not only his restaurant but many other establishments are also facing the same situation. "We hope that the authorities will take strong measures to prevent theft, helping to preserve the safe - friendly - clean image of Thien Cam Tourist Area" - Mr. Luan expressed.

It is known that in addition to Yen Tin and Que Lien restaurants, seafood theft has also occurred at other restaurants in Thien Cam Tourist Area. This situation has been going on since the beginning of the year, especially during the tourist season. Restaurant owners said that thieves often break in at night and steal valuable seafood.

At first, many restaurant owners ignored the theft of seafood because they did not want to waste time and wanted to do business in peace. However, this phenomenon has become more and more complicated, with the number of restaurants and the amount of seafood stolen increasing, causing confusion and frustration for business households.

Seafood theft has made food businesses in Thien Cam Tourist Area worried and upset.

Mr. Hoang Xuan Huong - Head of Thien Cam Tourist Area Management Board admitted: "Seafood theft at the tourist area has been happening for many months now, the unit has also received reports from restaurants. Given the above situation, we recommend that restaurant owners need to increase vigilance, not to be negligent or subjective at any time. At the same time, it is necessary to equip additional types of iron doors and anti-theft cameras... In particular, when there is a theft, it is necessary to notify the Management Board or Thien Cam Town Police for timely resolution.

In addition, the Management Board will also regularly broadcast warnings on the loudspeaker system, increase coordination with forces to deploy inspection and monitoring activities to prevent seafood theft in the tourist area."
