Many world music legends come to Dalat to perform

(Dan Tri) - The audience will be immersed in a nostalgic musical space, reliving the atmosphere of the 80s with the music night "Dalat Spring Concert" with the participation of Boney M, Joy, Samantha Fox...

On the afternoon of December 13 in Hanoi, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong, the People's Committee of Da Lat city, and the Lam Dong Center for Culture and Arts jointly organized the announcement ceremony of the international music project Dalat Spring Concert.

Music night with the participation of world music legends: Liz Mitchell (Boney M), Joy and Samantha Fox - famous singers and bands of the 1970s-1980s.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai, Dalat Spring Concert will be held annually to spread the image of Dalat as a creative city in the field of music, recognized by UNESCO. At the same time, the events aim to build Dalat as a world-class music destination, concretizing Dalat's commitment to join the UNESCO network of creative cities in the field of music.

This is the first time a series of world-class artists such as Liz Mitchell of Boney M, Joy and Samantha Fox have gathered to perform in the "city of a thousand flowers".

Ms. Tran Thi Vu Loan, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Lat City, shared: "Da Lat is very proud to be chosen as the venue for an international music event like Dalat Spring Concert . This is not only an opportunity for domestic and foreign audiences to enjoy top-notch music, but also an opportunity to promote the natural beauty, people and unique culture of Da Lat."

"With concerts like this, with 15,000 seats, about 20,000-25,000 visitors come to watch, filling Lam Vien Square. For the first time, an international band came to the city with songs that touched people's hearts in the 70s and 80s, but the show did not sell tickets.

This is Da Lat's gratitude to the people and tourists, creating conditions for international artists to come to Da Lat, connecting performance spaces with international standards and quality," said Ms. Loan.

Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong, the program's production director, said: "To ensure the highest quality of music, we had to prepare 3 independent sound systems that met international standards, with more than 6 mixers to operate the entire program. In particular, some equipment such as keyboards produced more than 20 years ago took 3-4 weeks to find according to Boney M's request."

Founded in 1976 in Germany with 4 members, Boney M is famous for the songs: Daddy cool, Sunny (1976), Rivers of Babylon, Rasputin (1978) which took all music charts worldwide and in Vietnam by storm thanks to their cheerful, vibrant, easy-to-listen and easy-to-sing melodies.

Liz Mitchell, the frontwoman of Boney M, will come to Vietnam to perform at the Dalat Spring Concert , promising to bring the group's most famous hits and many classic Christmas songs. She has come to Vietnam to perform in 2016 and 2019.

Recently, at the age of 72, she was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her contributions to music and charity.

Along with Liz Mitchell, the famous Austrian band - Joy - with the song Touch by Touch will also perform at Dalat Spring Concert . Returning to Vietnam after 5 years, Joy brings vibrant disco melodies but no less sweet, passionate and inspiring such as Touch by touch, Hey Hello, Valerie, I'm in love...

Boney M and Joy came to Vietnam to perform 5 years ago. The concert attracted nearly 4,000 spectators and really caused a stir on social networking forums.

Unlike Boney M and Joy, Dalat Spring Concert is a special event marking the first time "Queen of 1980s Pop" Samantha Fox performed in Vietnam.

The once famous British sex symbol "conquered" the charts with hits such as: Touch me (I want your body), Nothing's Gonna stop me now, Just one night, Wanna please me, I only wanna be with you.

Dalat Spring Concert is scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. on December 21 at Lam Vien Square (Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province), promising to satisfy the expectations of thousands of music lovers.
