At the 254th Customs Dialogue between Enterprises and the City Government on November 27, Mr. Vuong Tuan Nam, Head of the Management and Supervision Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, emphasized the commitment of the customs agency in creating favorable conditions for enterprises, especially in the context of many difficulties in infrastructure and goods inspection procedures.

Previously, businesses said that export activities were still being blocked due to difficulties in implementing specialized inspections of import and export goods. In particular, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Logistics Association reported that the inspection areas at some customs branches were crowded and could not meet the clearance schedule.

With this reflection, Mr. Vuong Tuan Nam acknowledged the overload situation at major ports such as Tan Cang Cat Lai, which handles more than 90% of the cargo transported in the Southern region. With a capacity of up to 6.5 million TEUs per year, the rate of goods requiring physical inspection (red channel) here is higher than average, putting great pressure on warehouses, loading and unloading areas and inspection equipment.

In addition to Cat Lai, the lack of places to check goods was also pointed out by Mr. Nam as a "hot" issue in recent times. Currently, export processing zones such as Tan Thuan, Linh Trung, and Thu Duc City High-Tech Park do not have places to check goods, forcing businesses to check on the street, causing inconvenience and greatly affecting production activities.

Some businesses, especially Japanese partners, have reported that the quality of goods is affected when inspected outdoors.

To solve the problem, the city customs representative said that when planning industrial parks and export processing zones, agencies need to pay more attention to building customs infrastructure from the beginning, to reduce pressure on businesses and authorities.

Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, said that the customs sector always receives much attention as it is considered an important factor in promoting international trade, ensuring economic security and contributing to national development.

In the field of logistics and trade, customs plays an important role in maintaining the flow of goods, ensuring jobs and increasing income.

The large number of questions proves that management activities still have many shortcomings, affecting the production and business activities of enterprises.
