On February 17, the Ministry of Health announced that during the recent 2024 Lunar New Year holidays, the country did not record any cases of highly pathogenic influenza in humans such as influenza A(H5N1), A(H5N6), A(H7N9)... and also did not record any cases of Covid-19, monkeypox and MERS-CoV-2.
However, there were 357 cases of dengue fever, 225 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease and 1 death from rabies in Ca Mau. Other infectious diseases did not record large outbreaks and were basically under control.
However, it is currently winter-spring and after the 2024 Tet holiday, it is the early spring festival season, so the demand for travel and communication of people increases very high, which are favorable conditions for many diseases to be at risk of outbreak, such as: flu, measles, hand, foot and mouth disease, Covid-19... To prevent epidemics, the Ministry of Health recommends that the health departments of provinces and cities strengthen the implementation of the plan to prevent and control infectious diseases in 2024; continue to effectively implement activities such as: disease prevention and control, ensuring food safety and propaganda to raise awareness of disease prevention measures in educational institutions; prevent epidemics in livestock and poultry, monitor and detect early outbreaks in animals to thoroughly handle outbreaks and prevent and control diseases transmitted from animals and food to humans.
In particular, the Center for Disease Control and preventive medical units in the area should pay attention to monitoring the increase in cases of respiratory diseases and severe cases of viral pneumonia and continue to effectively implement regular surveillance to detect cases early at the border gate.
The Ministry of Health also requested units and localities to deploy solutions to ensure logistics, funding, drugs, vaccines, biological products, supplies, chemicals, equipment, and human resources to be ready to serve the prevention of infectious diseases and prepare response plans for epidemic situations.
