President Luong Cuong stated that more than ever, we must quickly seize opportunities and chances so that the country can confidently enter a new era of development.
"Shake off the mud and stand up shining brightly"
On the evening of January 19, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee and relevant agencies, organized the Homeland Spring Program 2025 with the theme "Vietnam - Rising in the new era".
President Luong Cuong and his wife; Politburo member, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien; and nearly 1,000 overseas Vietnamese attended the Program.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Le Thi Thu Hang said that in 2024, the overseas Vietnamese community in general made new progress, deeply integrated into the host society, and was an important resource for the country's construction and development and a bridge for relations between Vietnam and the world. Many people actively participated in international science and art awards, making Vietnam famous.
Speaking at the program, President Luong Cuong emphasized that no matter where we live in the world, no matter how different our living conditions are, when Tet comes, Spring always turns to our homeland and our roots. Tet is not only an occasion for family reunions, but also an occasion for us to honor and affirm the fine traditional cultural values of the nation, to remind each person that, despite the distance, we are still an inseparable part of our homeland and country. That is the sacred bond, the strong connection between those who are far from home and our beloved Vietnam.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Luong Cuong sent warm feelings, thoughtful greetings and best wishes for the New Year to the people present at the Homeland Spring Program 2025 and all compatriots abroad.
The President affirmed that the Party, the State and our compatriots at home always pay attention to and follow the situation of our compatriots abroad and are extremely excited and proud to see that over the past year, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, and even times of insecurity in some areas with conflicts and natural disasters, our compatriots still kept their minds steadfast, nurtured their will, and strived to build a better life; many compatriots have affirmed their position in the local society, and some have been listed on the world intellectual map.
This is a clear demonstration of the valuable qualities of the Vietnamese people, which are courage in the face of difficulties, resilience in the face of adversity, and the will to rise up in the face of storms; affirming the increasingly solid position of the Vietnamese community in the international arena.
According to the President, our nation has gone through the most difficult and arduous years. The desire and love for peace is in the hearts and blood of the Vietnamese people. For independence, freedom and national unity, the entire nation, following the sacred call of the Party and Uncle Ho, rose up to fight, defeated many enemies many times stronger than us, and achieved resounding victories. We have risen, "shaken off the mud and stood up shining brightly", confidently reaching out to the ocean, joining the flow of humanity.
The President said that in the great achievements of our nation, there is always the important cooperation and contribution of our compatriots abroad. The strength of great national unity is the premise and the source of strength, bringing about all the great and glorious victories of our nation. Vietnamese people, whether at home or abroad, are all "children of Lac and grandchildren of Hong".
Heaven's time, earth's advantage, and human harmony are converging.
President Luong Cuong emphasized: "We remember yesterday to cherish today, nurture aspirations for tomorrow, close the past, together preserve and cultivate the great national unity bloc, looking towards the bright future of the nation."
The President stated that Vietnam is preparing a solid foundation for our country to confidently enter a new era, an era of development, prosperity, breakthrough, acceleration, and successfully building a Vietnam with rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, prosperity, and happiness, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, all people have a prosperous, free, and happy life; contributing more and more to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
President Luong Cuong emphasized that our Party and State always pay special attention and care to our compatriots abroad. The overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of our flesh and blood, an important resource of the Vietnamese nation. That is the consistent and continuous policy of our Party and State. "The policies and guidelines related to overseas Vietnamese will continue to be implemented more comprehensively and strongly, clearly demonstrating the sentiments and responsibilities of the Party and State in increasingly better meeting the legitimate aspirations and wishes of our compatriots abroad, creating motivation and encouragement for our compatriots to rise up, build a good life, foster and nurture the spirit of patriotism, love for the nation, preserve the Vietnamese language and culture - the soul of our thousand-year-old Vietnamese nation", said President Luong Cuong.
Stating that in the process of building and developing the country, the Party and State always promote and value the contributions of our compatriots abroad, together realizing the goal of building a strong and prosperous Vietnam, the President called on our compatriots abroad to continue to unite, work together, nurture patriotism, and join hands with our compatriots at home to shoulder the great mission of the nation.
The President emphasized that the traditional Tet holiday of the nation always has a special sacred meaning for every Vietnamese person. Tet is for gathering, reunion and Tet is for returning. The Spring of At Ty 2025 is approaching very soon, "Heaven's time, favorable location, and harmony of people" are converging, more than ever, we must quickly seize the opportunity and luck so that the country can confidently enter a new era of development.
On the eve of the New Year, the President sends to all comrades, compatriots nationwide and overseas, and distinguished delegates good health, happiness, peace, prosperity, and a new year of new victories.
At the program, President Luong Cuong beat the drum to open the Spring festival.
