(Dan Tri) - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy at meeting 100 delegates from countries and territories around the world returning to their homeland to celebrate the New Year of the Snake 2025.
On the afternoon of January 19, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with 100 delegates representing the overseas Vietnamese community attending the "Homeland Spring 2025" program.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the Vietnamese community abroad is a bridge between countries and Vietnam and between the National Assembly and parliaments of other countries.
The National Assembly Chairman reported on the socio-economic development results of our country in the past year; at the same time, he affirmed that in the country's overall achievements, there are very important contributions from the overseas Vietnamese community, who, although far from home, always turn their hearts towards their homeland and country.
Mr. Man said that the Party and State always pay attention and have issued many important directives, resolutions and laws for Vietnamese people abroad.
In particular, on December 22, 2024, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 57 on science and technology development and national digital transformation with many strategic breakthrough tasks and solutions. In particular, it emphasized attracting overseas Vietnamese intellectuals to participate in research and development activities, contributing to the country's breakthrough development in the new era.
The National Assembly has also enacted many laws to facilitate Vietnamese people settling abroad such as the 2024 Land Law; the 2023 Housing Law; and the 2023 Identity Law.
This affirms that when drafting laws, the National Assembly and the Government pay attention to the Vietnamese community abroad, according to Mr. Man.
He hopes that with experience and intelligence, the Vietnamese community abroad will continue to contribute to building the homeland and country, and especially building institutions, laws, and laws related to the Vietnamese community abroad.
The National Assembly Chairman also hopes that the overseas Vietnamese community will continue to be a bridge connecting foreign countries with our country to contribute to building the homeland and the country in many ways such as transferring science, technology and engineering to develop the country.
The Vietnamese community abroad needs to preserve national cultural identity and teach Vietnamese language and writing to their children, according to Mr. Man.
Emphasizing that Vietnam is facing many challenges such as climate change, protecting national sovereignty, energy security, and digital transformation, the National Assembly Chairman also asked overseas Vietnamese to pay attention to contributing practical ideas and initiatives...
Speaking at the meeting, the overseas Vietnamese representative thanked the Party and State leaders for always showing affection and concern for the overseas Vietnamese community.
The Party and State have had many policies and guidelines to support overseas Vietnamese in integrating into the host country; overseas Vietnamese affirm that they will make more contributions to their homeland, realizing their aspirations to develop the country in the new era, the era of national growth.
