Musician Nguyen Van Chung has just posted the next episode of the series "Stories of Hit Songs" on his personal TikTok channel.
In this episode, the musician shares about the last song he wrote for the late actress Mai Phuong before she passed away.
It is known that during their lifetime, Mai Phuong and Nguyen Van Chung had a close relationship. The musician also sent Mai Phuong many songs. Among them was the song "Ngu di con" (Go to sleep, my child), which was not released in time before Mai Phuong passed away.
Musician Nguyen Van Chung confides about the last song he wrote for the late actress Mai Phuong.
"That is a song I wrote for Mai Phuong and her child. She loves her child very much. Mai Phuong shared with me that she wanted to have a song about mother-child love, so that she could sing a lullaby to put her child to sleep.
At that time, Mai Phuong was the main actress in the play "The Ghost Wife" at Hong Van Drama Theater. After watching Mai Phuong perform that play, I had the feeling to write the song "Sleep, my child" for Mai Phuong, Nguyen Van Chung recalled.
According to Nguyen Van Chung, the song "Sleep, my child" is very simple, like a lullaby for a mother to put her child to sleep, despite the heavy rain and storm outside, the mother still wants her child to have a peaceful sleep. The mother will take care of everything outside. Mother hopes that tomorrow, when the child wakes up, it will be a sunny, beautiful day and the child will have a peaceful, happy life.
"When recording this song, Mai Phuong also cried. I wrote it to match Mai Phuong's mood, with many hidden sorrows in her heart, but she is always optimistic about tomorrow and always loves her child unconditionally. To everyone else, this would be a normal lullaby, but to Mai Phuong, singing it is very painful and touching," the musician confided.
From the time she was diagnosed with the disease in 2018 until her death, Mai Phuong always maintained an optimistic spirit despite enduring many mental sorrows and the hardships of being a single mother.
Unfortunately, the song could not be released, even though Mai Phuong had completed the recording. To commemorate Mai Phuong, Nguyen Van Chung uploaded this song to his YouTube channel as a final gift to his deceased best friend.
He hopes everyone will listen to this song and feel the love Mai Phuong has for her beloved daughter.
Mai Phuong passed away on March 28, 2020 after a year and a half of lung cancer treatment.
Her full name is Phan Thi Mai Phuong, born in 1985. In 2006, she graduated from the Drama Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema. After that, she joined Phu Nhuan Drama Theater and performed in the plays: "Ghost Wife", "Impossible Mission"...
She has acted in many films such as: "White Angels", "Ephemeral Dream", "Grasshopper Hamlet", "Dancing Boy"...
Nguyen Van Chung and Mai Phuong once collaborated when he, she and Ngo Trac Linh produced the album "Uoc Mo Cua Thien Than" (2010). In which, the song "Tieng piano trong dem" performed by Mai Phuong was loved by the audience.
He also planned to form a group called White Angels including: Midu, Mai Phuong, Ngo Trac Linh, Nha Phuong. However, each person had their own path so they did not form a group.
Mai Phuong sings "Go to sleep, my child" - a song composed by Nguyen Van Chung specifically for her in 2014. Currently, the song's video has attracted more than 2.7 million views. (Video: Nguyen Van Chung)
