On October 24, Youth Theater met with the press to inform about the special musical The Five-Colored Stone .
The musical tells the story of little Mai, who holds tightly onto a five-colored stone - a symbol of faith and miracles - throughout her life and not only creates a fairy tale for Thien Nhan but also for many other children.
The image of the iridescent stone is also a symbol of belief: If our dreams are big enough, they will come true.
The musical The Five-Colored Stone was directed by Meritorious Artist Cao Ngoc Anh - General Director, Deputy Director of the Youth Theater. The play began with a proposition: "If we believe, miracles will appear."
For the Youth Theatre, this is the next effort in staging purely Vietnamese musicals, a musical genre created, staged and performed by Vietnamese people with content built from Vietnamese stories instead of staging and performing "derivative" works that have been successful in the world.
Sharing at the event, Meritorious Artist Cao Ngoc Anh said: "The young actors have been selected very carefully due to the difficult factors of the current contemporary musical theater genre. They must have the ability to perform "3 in 1": Dancing, acting and singing.
We hope that in the near future, purely Vietnamese musicals can bring Vietnamese stories and perform Vietnamese works before international audiences."
At the event, an excerpt from the musical was also performed on stage, touching the audience. Mother Mai Anh and Thien Nhan told a beautiful story of humanity: The journey to overcome fate with love and kindness. Moreover, it was Mai Anh's love that gave birth to Thien Nhan again, Thien Nhan was a baby born from "mother's fragrant heart".
In the program, the stories are told through acting, choreography, and music that are both modern, youthful, pure, and profound. The songs in the musical are completely new compositions, such as: Borderless Heart, Green Dream, Fragrant Heart, Confidence, When Will Mom Get Married ?
Ms. Mai Anh - founder and director of Thien Nhan and Friends Program expressed her wish that the musical would be artistic and successful independently without any relation to the journey of a specific person.
"Hopefully, every audience member who comes to the musical can bring home a colorful stone for themselves. Life always needs faith in fairy tales," said Ms. Mai Anh.
The musical The Five-Colored Stone will be performed on November 9 and 10 at the Youth Theater. Part of the musical's revenue will be donated to the Thien Nhan and Friends Fund in November 2023.
