Philip Quast shared at the evening exchange on November 3 in Hanoi, introducing the art education project called Culture in You - Cultural fulcrum, art bridge organized by The YOUniverse Education, Training and Entertainment Company in collaboration with Interstellar Musical Community and the Center for Journalism Culture - Vietnam Journalists Association.

Learn Western techniques to exploit your rich traditional cultural capital

Philip Quast - a three-time winner of the Laurence Olivier Award (UK) for Best Actor in a Musical - will join the project as a talk show expert, training young people with a passion for the arts in confident stage acting skills, facial expressions, etc.

Responding to Tuoi Tre Online about the reason for his coming to Vietnam to participate in this art education project, he said that as he begins to "age", he really wants to pass on his skills and stage experience to the younger generation.

In addition, in his country of Australia there is a mixture of many cultures and he sees cultures being lost, which makes him feel very regretful.

Therefore, Philip Quast agreed to participate in the project Culture in You - Cultural fulcrum, artistic bridge to help young Vietnamese art lovers learn from him and his colleagues Western stage techniques, to better exploit their national cultural capital, and continue to develop that rich traditional culture.

He wants young Vietnamese people not to simply copy skills from the West but to know how to take advantage of and exploit the rich traditional culture of their country to fully develop their potential.

He is willing to impart to young Vietnamese people teamwork skills in art projects, vocal performance skills, stage performance skills, etc.

And he also has one request: the young people are not allowed to use cell phones during his training sessions.

No phone use to maintain discipline and focus

Philip Quast made this request to every class he taught, not just to students in Vietnam.

His strict rules come from Philip Quast's views on education and work, shared at the same time as some schools in Vietnam piloted a ban on students using mobile phones in class.

According to Philip Quast, requiring young people not to use mobile phones in the classroom is to increase discipline and concentration, two keywords that help young people develop the skills they need.

In Australia, Philip Quast is known as a perfectionist on stage.

Not only does he impart experience and skills to young Vietnamese people in classes, he also hopes to inspire young people who love art by telling his life story, from a boy living and working on a farm to becoming a famous artist in the live concert The Road I Took which took place on the evening of November 7 at the Viet-Xo Palace, Hanoi.

Audiences will hear classic melodies, from the soulful Stars in Les Misérables to the enchanting Pretty Women in Sweeney Todd , works that contributed to Philip Quast's reputation.

Culture in You hopes to equip the young generation with solid cultural foundations and important soft skills through exchanges, sharing sessions, and concerts.

A series of exchanges between artists from Australia, including Artist Philip Quast, Ann-Maree McDonald and Nicholas Gentile, will be held at schools in Hanoi, theatres...
