Notably, Nguyen Van Khanh Phong once again surpassed the achievement of the Filipino athlete nicknamed "gymnastics prodigy" - Carlos Yulo. Yulo's hoop competition was only scored 14.033 points and was not in the medal group (4th).
Not long ago, Nguyen Van Khanh Phong won the gold medal in the rings event (14.2 points) at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. Carlos Yulo (14 points) was the one who ranked behind Khanh Phong and won the silver medal in this event.

In addition, Nguyen Van Khanh Phong has won a place to participate in the 2023 World Championship, which is also the 2024 Olympic qualifier thanks to his achievement of being in the top 8 of the hanging round event on the ranking table of the 4th World Gymnastics Cup with 30 points.
Returning to the rings event at the 2023 Asian Gymnastics Championships, Lan Xing-yu (China) won the gold medal with 15.2 points. The bronze medal went to Kiu Chung (Hong Kong) with 14.1 points.
