Writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc returns to directing after 13 years

On the afternoon of March 28, Quoc Thao Drama Theater began staging the script "Hired Killer" by writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc, inspired by the literary work of writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu. The original name of the play was "Dry Heart" and when she discussed with artist Quoc Thao, both of them worked together as directors with the new name "Hired Killer".

"In fact, this script has been edited many times. Before that, I intended to stage it at Hoang Thai Thanh stage, but then due to lack of luck, the play could not be performed. This time, I met director Quoc Thao and decided that we both would work together to soon release it to the audience in April. I hope the play will be well received by the audience at Quoc Thao stage" - writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc said.

What makes her happier is working with a team that is very familiar, understands each other, and above all, wants to bring to the audience emotions with many levels of humanity and life through a thorny and humane story.

The play features the following artists: People's Artist Viet Anh, People's Artist Huu Quoc, Meritorious Artist Tuyet Thu, artist Quoc Thao, actors Truong Phuc, Lam Thanh Tiep. Notably, Meritorious Artist Minh Trang returned from Singapore to participate in this play.

Director Quoc Thao said that after moving to Phu Nhuan Cultural Center, many audiences requested Quoc Thao stage to stage many dramas. And this time, he decided to work with director Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc, who had many memories with him since they were both very young on the small stage at 5B Vo Van Tan (now Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Drama Theater).

"I'm very excited, the crew members also really like the literary story of this play. The most touching is the couple Viet Anh - Minh Trang. After being away from the stage for a long time, now they are both standing together in a play and are a solid support for the young actors. This is something very precious to our stage" - director Quoc Thao said.

Writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc sent her thanks to readers of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper for supporting the literary work "The Singer" published by San Khau Publishing House in 2023. This is the work that Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper awarded the "Excellent Culture and Arts Award 2023" of the 29th Mai Vang Award 2023 organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper .

"I am still overwhelmed with emotion because my literary work was awarded the prize and I will use the 20 million VND prize money to support the charity work that I have been quietly doing for a long time. Many readers have sent me congratulatory messages. That is a great encouragement for me personally, helping me have more energy to continue writing" - she affirmed and expressed her joy during her visit to her hometown.
