The report of the US Department of Justice Special Counsel, Mr. Robert Hur, on February 8 announced the results of the investigation into the handling of classified documents by President Joe Biden when he was vice president from 2009 to 2017. The report did not bring criminal charges against Mr. Biden, but showed his negligence in protecting highly sensitive classified information.
White House spokesman Ian Sams said he fundamentally disagreed with the special counsel's description of President Joe Biden's ability to recall details.
"I disagree with the report's assessment of the president's memory because that is not the case," the spokesman said.
US Vice President Kamala Harris also rejected the description in the report, saying the report was "politically motivated".
Democrats were quick to compare Mr Biden’s problems to those of former President Donald Trump, who also faced political problems over his handling of classified documents, but was indicted for obstructing the recovery of documents held at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
