Network operators block 2-way SIM cards, but people are still bothered by spam calls

In recent days, although network operators have blocked 2-way unstandardized SIM cards, people still continuously receive spam and scam calls.

These days, Ms. Cao Le Quyen in Tay Ho District, Hanoi still receives 1-2 spam calls a day. Sometimes it is an invitation to buy real estate, sometimes it is cosmetics, it feels very annoying.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has established 8 inspection teams to conduct comprehensive inspections nationwide, with businesses, organizations and individuals registering to use large numbers of SIM cards and showing signs of irregularities. Authorities have recorded about 260 individuals owning more than 1,000 SIM cards each, and more than 5,700 individuals owning more than 100 SIM cards. However, it is important that network operators are truly determined to face the not insignificant profit from junk SIM cards.

This comprehensive inspection will last until June 5, expanding to virtual mobile telecommunications businesses, with a small number of employees but registering a large number of SIM cards. Inspecting agents and SIM card trading businesses that share users' personal information to register fake junk SIM cards.

The amount of collected junk SIMs will be returned to the network operators' number warehouses and after about 3 months will be released to the market to develop new subscribers.
