TPO – Forming an innovation ecosystem and developing spin-off and start-up businesses in universities is a strategic solution to achieve the goal of linking scientific research with practice.

The Center for Knowledge Transfer and Startup Support, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has just organized a program connecting scientists, research groups and businesses to attract ideas and solutions to solve practical problems, thereby increasing the transfer and commercialization of scientific and technological products.

At the same time, develop start-up/ spin-off businesses (businesses operating in the field of science and technology, formed on the basis of applying and exploiting scientific and technological research results created at research institutes, universities or by individuals or groups of scientists, engineers...).

Representing scientists from the Hanoi National University, Dr. Hoang Van Ha, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Natural Sciences, said that scientists really want to commercialize their scientific research projects so that the products they research can contribute to serving the community and people. However, they are still facing many difficulties and limitations in doing business, raising capital, and selling products. These are limitations that need support from incubators to commercialize their "brainchild", which is the scientific and technological product they create, and establish a business to bring that product to the market.

Hero of Labor Truong Van Hien, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Nghe An Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Corporation, shared that in the process of production and business, enterprises have many problems that arise and need advice, support and companionship from scientists. However, the lack of information and connection channels are limitations that prevent enterprises - schools - scientists from connecting with each other.

According to Mr. Hien, the cooperation between enterprises and scientists has brought added value and contributed to the sustainable development of enterprises. In the coming time, the two sides will continue to conduct research cooperation activities according to orders to continue to provide good, quality products to serve the people.

Dr. Truong Ngoc Kiem, Director of the Center for Knowledge Transfer and Startup Support, shared that strengthening cooperation between scientists/research groups and businesses is very important. This is an inevitable trend in the development process of countries to link scientific research with practice, stemming from practical needs and solving practical problems. This helps research results and products to be quickly applied in practice, contributing to promoting economic growth and improving the quality of life for the people.

Forming an innovation ecosystem and developing spin-off and start-up businesses in universities is a strategic solution to achieve those goals, especially promoting the role of entrepreneurs and businesses participating in the process of promoting innovation and supporting start-ups in a practical and effective manner.

Within the framework of the program, the Center for Knowledge Transfer and Startup Support awarded intellectual property registration results (patents, utility solutions, copyrights) for 20 products of scientists from Hanoi National University.

In addition, 5 projects have signed incubation contracts to perfect their technology and may become businesses in the near future.
