The Vietnamese women's team lost 1-2 to the German women's team in an international friendly match early on June 25 (Vietnam time). Despite the defeat, this was a commendable match for Thanh Nha and her teammates.
According to information from the Vietnam Football Federation, coach Mai Duc Chung shared: “Matches like this give the Vietnamese women’s team more experience. Before, we rarely had the chance to compete with high-level opponents like the German team.
Against a high-class opponent, the Vietnamese women's team played with great effort, although they were inferior in stature and strength to the opponent. The players played with determination and implemented the tactics given by the coaching staff. Of course, in football, just a little mistake can lead to a loss. The team conceded an early goal, but we tried to overcome it quickly. In particular, the Vietnamese women's team had several opportunities to score against the German women's team, not just Thanh Nha's late goal."
Coach Mai Duc Chung is satisfied with his students.
Coach Mai Duc Chung expressed: "After 4 matches in Germany, I would like to sincerely thank the German Football Federation for arranging food and accommodation for us. The weather here is cool, so it helps the team improve their physical strength. In the last training session in Germany, we continued to improve to prepare for the 2023 World Cup. Up to now, I am quite satisfied with the preparation of the Vietnamese women's team. Only a few personal mistakes were exposed, such as poor passing and ball control. The defensive counter-attacking style that the Vietnamese team is aiming for is correct. In terms of level and strength, the Vietnamese women's team will lose to the other team a lot. So we have to play tight defense, waiting for counter-attacks. Against the German team, the team had a few sharp counter-attacks. Unfortunately, Vu Thi Hoa or Duong Thi Van missed it quite regrettably."

Coach Mai Duc Chung concluded: “The Vietnamese female players are very confident. Their physical strength and character have been improved. I still tell my students that we must learn from the opponent's good qualities. Currently, the team is missing Huynh Nhu and Chuong Thi Kieu is injured. I hope Chuong Thi Kieu recovers quickly to compete with the team at the 2023 World Cup. As for Huynh Nhu, when she returns to Vietnam, Nhu will be able to practice and compete.”
