(Dan Tri) - Receiving a phone call from the police inviting her to come and receive the money she mistakenly transferred 2 years ago, a woman in Ha Tinh was very surprised.
On the afternoon of January 6, Captain Nguyen Hoang Anh, Chief of Dien Thinh Commune Police, Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province, said that the unit had handed over the amount of 15 million VND that was mistakenly transferred to Ms. Ho Thi Le Na (born in 1994, residing in Hong Linh Town, Ha Tinh).
In January 2023, Dien Thinh Commune Police received a request for help from Ms. Na. According to Ms. Na, on January 18, 2023, she mistakenly transferred money to an account under the name of Hoang Thi Mai. Through verification from the bank, Ms. Na learned that Ms. Mai was a citizen of Dien Thinh Commune but could not contact her.
Verification by Dien Thinh Commune Police showed that Ms. Mai is indeed a local citizen. However, she has gone abroad, making it difficult to determine whether her account received the 15 million VND mistakenly transferred or not.
In early January, when learning that Ms. Hoang Thi Mai returned to Vietnam to visit her family, Dien Thinh Commune Police proactively contacted her to check information about the money that was mistakenly transferred 2 years ago.
During her work with the police, Ms. Mai was surprised to learn that she had received the wrong money transfer. She said that this account was opened by her old company to pay her salary. When she quit her job to go abroad, she no longer used this account and also stopped using the phone number to receive balance change notifications.
Ms. Mai and the Dien Thinh Commune Police went to the bank to check the account and discovered that there was an amount of 15 million VND that had been mistakenly transferred 2 years ago. Ms. Mai withdrew the entire amount and handed it over to the Dien Thinh Commune Police to return it to the rightful owner.
"On the morning of January 6, I received a call from Dien Thinh Commune Police, inviting me to come to the headquarters to receive the handover of 15 million VND that was mistakenly transferred. To be honest, after 2 years, I no longer had any hope of receiving this money back, so when I received the information from the police, I was very surprised and happy. Thank you to the officers and soldiers of Dien Thinh Commune Police for giving me this special early Tet gift," Ms. Le Na shared.
