Every piece of journalism must be a convincing message.
According to information at the Conference, recently, there has been a situation where some reporters, especially resident reporters of magazines, have violated professional ethics and even violated the law while working, seriously affecting the reputation of the press.
Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the control mechanism and have strong sanctions against violations. At the same time, regularly inspect, urge and strictly handle cases of violations of the Press Law, preventing journalists from practicing their profession in accordance with the law, thereby creating favorable conditions for the press to promote the effectiveness of social supervision and criticism.
The head of the Central Propaganda Department acknowledged that there is a situation of “group fighting” against businesses among a small number of collaborators and resident reporters that press agencies have not strictly managed. “You can be poor in journalism, but you cannot be negative. Publishing without investigating and considering carefully before publishing, complicates the situation.
Journalists must speak correctly, accurately, objectively, and effectively. Each article written must be in line with policies, laws, and people's aspirations, and be accepted by readers. If this can be done, the position of the press and reporters will be greatly enhanced," the Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department requested that all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association continue to thoroughly grasp, deeply understand and effectively implement Directive No. 43/2020 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new situation; directives, resolutions of the Party, documents of the State on press work, activities of the Association and the Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
Journalists Associations at all levels need to orient press agencies to closely follow the practical cause of innovation and development of the country, current issues; deeply and vividly reflect the breath and pulse of life to produce many high-quality, objective, authentic press works with high combativeness, profound cultural and humanistic values. Each press work must be a convincing message, affecting both the minds and hearts of the public, thereby orienting public opinion, creating social consensus, contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State, and the cause of national construction and development.
In addition, it is necessary to promote innovation and creativity in journalism more strongly and drastically, seek and deploy digital newsroom models with organizational and management methods to strongly promote the creativity of journalists.
Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia also requested to urgently develop plans and projects to prepare for organizing activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
At the same time, focus on orienting training and research activities to clarify modern journalism theory, with issues of digital journalism, creative journalism, journalism economic models, and socialist orientation in journalism activities.
In particular, effectively and substantially implement the program to support the creation of high-quality press works; focus on research, exploration and innovation to continue to maintain and affirm the position of the National Press Award.

The press always accompanies the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
At the conference, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh informed: Over the past 74 years since its establishment (April 21, 1950 - April 21, 2019), the Vietnam Journalists Association has grown in both quantity and quality. From nearly 300 initial members, the Association has now attracted more than 25,000 members, operating in 63 provincial and municipal Journalists Associations, 21 Inter-Associations and 223 affiliated Associations nationwide.
In 2023, the Vietnam Journalists Association will continue to implement the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress on the task of building a traditional, revolutionary, professional, modern and humane press; strengthen management and orientation of the activities of press management agencies, focus on training and building a team of press managers, reporters, editors and collaborators with political will, pure moral qualities and professional expertise to improve the effectiveness of propaganda work.
In the context of difficulties and common challenges of the world, region and country, including unprecedented challenges, the press has always been a vanguard force in effectively propagating the policies of the Party and State, always closely associated with and accompanying the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Information and propaganda work in the press on the implementation of political tasks, economic, social, cultural, defense, security issues... has been given attention, focus, and depth, creating a positive spread. Information on foreign affairs activities of Party and State leaders has become a highlight in the overall propaganda picture.
Propaganda work to protect the Party's ideological foundation and fight against and refute erroneous and hostile viewpoints has clearly changed from thinking to content, form and methods of propaganda. Propaganda on preventing corruption and negativity, fighting against signs of degradation in political ideology, ethics and lifestyle continues to be strongly implemented, increasingly going into depth and substance, bringing high efficiency.
Propaganda on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people is on par with propaganda on economic development in accordance with the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 2021 National Cultural Conference.
