Stranger gives money to students, principal warns parents and teachers of the whole school

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Yen, Principal of Ha Huy Giap Primary School, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, confirmed that the school has just issued important notice No. 234 on coordination to ensure security and safety for students, and prevent criminals from abusing/kidnapping in front of the school gate. The school took this action after learning about the incident of a stranger giving money to a student at the school gate with many unusual signs.

According to the announcement, at around 6:00 a.m. on November 15, a woman wearing a dark purple jacket, her face covered, a black helmet, and riding a red Air Blade appeared at the school gate. This woman called a 5th grade student over, then put 20,000 VND in the child's hand and said "I'll give you breakfast money". This is a student of Ha Huy Giap Primary School temporarily studying at To Ngoc Van Secondary School.

The student replied that he had already eaten and did not accept it, but the woman deliberately put the money in his hand. At that moment, another parent took his child to school, discovered it, and when he returned, the woman ran away. After that, the student went into the classroom and gave the money to the homeroom teacher. The teacher used alcohol to disinfect, took the money and threw it in the trash, but a while later, she showed signs of dizziness, headache, and drowsiness, according to the announcement.

The school has worked with the ward police to coordinate measures to ensure security, order and safety for students before and after school every day.

At the same time, Principal of Ha Huy Giap Primary School proposed many measures to ensure safety for students and prevent abuse and kidnapping.

For parents, the school recommends: "Must strictly follow the prescribed pick-up and drop-off times (especially pick-up times, not too late), instruct children where to wait for their parents in the schoolyard, when their parents have not arrived, not to go out of the gate for any reason, not to follow strangers; not to accept anything from strangers such as toys, candy, drinks... When parents are busy and cannot pick up their children, they must notify the homeroom teacher in advance by phone if they ask someone else to pick them up for them."

The homeroom teacher must take attendance at the beginning of class. If a student is absent without giving a reason, he/she must call the parents directly to get information, to avoid the situation where the parents bring the student to school but the student does not come to class.

The school also requires homeroom teachers to line up students in an orderly manner before leaving, and to observe students when parents come to pick them up. If they discover any abnormalities in the person picking up the student (such as not being a parent or relative without prior notice from the parents), the teacher must intervene and call the parents to confirm. Teachers should increase reminders to students about precautions against harmful or kidnapping criminals.

After the incident of a stranger giving money to a student, the school required security guards to increase their presence during rush hours (before and after school) at the school gate. If a student runs out without seeing their parents coming to pick them up, the security guards must stop them and ask them to wait for their parents in the school yard...
