TPO - Despite the scorching sun, thousands of people still patiently lined up to bring clothes to the ceremony at Ngoc Hoang Pagoda (HCMC) on the full moon day of the first lunar month.

At noon on February 24 (January 14), despite the harsh sunlight, thousands of people still patiently lined up waiting for their turn to enter the main hall of Ngoc Hoang Pagoda (District 1) to perform the fortune-telling ceremony.

The transfer ceremony is a special ceremony held only at Ngoc Hoang Pagoda and only takes place on the 8th and 14th of January.

When coming here to worship, everyone walks around the temple yard with the meaning of circulating luck, taking away bad luck and welcoming new luck.

A monk of the pagoda said that the festival has existed since ancient times at the beginning of the year to pray for peace, luck, and fortune. Every year, at this time, the pagoda welcomes thousands of people who come to pray for luck.

The weather in Ho Chi Minh City is quite hot these days, but many people still stand in line to enter the ceremony.

Each person who comes to the temple carries on their head a small tray of offerings such as fruit, clothes, candy, etc. to pray for blessings at the beginning of the year.

According to belief, if you stamp your clothes at the beginning of the year, you will have good luck all year long.

Inside the temple, the monk will sit in the ceremonial area and distribute stamps to people. People will take turns bringing clothes, red envelopes, and personal items to ask for the stamp.

At noon, people continued to flock to Ngoc Hoang Pagoda to hold ceremonies and burn incense to pray for peace and luck during the festival.
