Full moon of January: Market is packed with customers, shippers are busy delivering chicken offerings from 2am

According to the concept "The whole year's ceremonies are not as good as the full moon day of January", this year the full moon day falls on a weekday, many families went to the market very early to buy offerings to their ancestors.

This morning, Hanoi had drizzle and cold weather, greatly affecting traffic and daily life of the capital's residents.

At Hang Be market area, Gia Ngu street (Hoan Kiem district), from early morning, people have been coming to buy items to serve the needs of worshiping on the full moon day of January. With a variety of items such as chicken, sticky rice, sweet soup, ham..., this is always the place for people in the capital to come to shop during holidays and Tet.

As usual, the product "boiled chicken with rose in mouth" has become the brand of Hang Be market. From 2am, many shops have been busy preparing to boil chicken and decorate it to serve customers.

At Hang Be market, some businesses serve customers with pre-made trays of traditional dishes such as boiled chicken, bamboo shoot soup, sticky rice with gac fruit, spring rolls...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Quy (right) is busy carrying bags of offerings to deliver to customers. Ms. Quy said that this is a tray of offerings that customers have ordered from her store, each "package" product costs from 1 million VND.

Ms. Lam Le Thanh (Nguyen Luong Bang, Dong Da) went to traditional markets in Hanoi early in the morning to buy offerings for the full moon festival. Ms. Thanh said that she sometimes goes to Hang Be market to buy chickens because she trusts the quality there. According to her, the prices this time have not changed much compared to previous times.

Busy preparing from 2am with all the tasks such as cleaning chicken, boiling chicken, decorating, transporting..., Mr. Duy Linh (employee of a business on Hang Be street) said that on holidays and Tet, customers' demand for goods is very high, on normal days about 20 customers place orders, but on holidays the number can be 10 times higher.

Mr. Linh personally delivers an average of 30-50 orders to customers on a holiday.

In addition to boiled chicken and sticky rice, decorative items or traditional dishes such as meatball soup are quite attractive to customers.

It is noted that some other markets such as Dong Xuan, Bac Qua... also sell many products for full moon worship.

Late blooming peach branches are sold at many different prices, on average a small branch costs 40,000-50,000 VND.

At the beginning of the year, many people choose to bring grapefruit flowers to display on the altar. It is known that the price of grapefruit flowers these days is from 30,000 to 40,000 VND/tael.

Betel and areca nuts are indispensable products in every holiday and Tet. Areca nuts cost 15,000 VND/nut, with a piece of betel folded in the shape of a phoenix wing costing 5,000 VND.
