From April 10 to now, in the localities of Tien Giang, Soc Trang, Ca Mau, Ben Tre... the police force has mobilized officers and soldiers to support and transport hundreds of cubic meters of fresh water for daily use, tens of thousands of bottles of mineral water to send to people in drought and salinity-affected areas and give gifts to households with difficult economic circumstances...

Due to the impact of El Nino, from the beginning of 2024 until now, rainfall in many regions across the country has been deficient, temperatures have been high, and hot weather has been prolonged; drought, water shortage and saltwater intrusion have occurred in some localities, especially the Mekong Delta and the Central Highlands. Up to now, 4 provinces nationwide have declared a state of emergency due to drought and saltwater intrusion, namely Tien Giang, Long An, Kien Giang, and Ca Mau.

Drought and saltwater intrusion have seriously affected the lives of rural people across the country in general and the Mekong Delta in particular; especially the lack of water for daily life and production for people.

18/4, Công an tỉnh Cà Mau đã tặng 50 hộ dân tại ấp 1, ấp 2, ấp 3, xã Khánh Bình Tây Bắc, huyện Trần Văn Thời (tỉnh Cà Mau), mỗi hộ 65 lít nước uống đóng chai các loại.

The Public Security Forces also actively coordinate with relevant departments and organizations to promote propaganda, dissemination, and guidance for people to implement measures to cope with heat, drought, water shortage, and saltwater intrusion. Coordinate with relevant functional departments and the People's Committees at the district level to strengthen inspection and strictly control the business activities and trade of equipment and containers for storing fresh water; business activities and trade of fresh water for production and daily life; buying and selling of counterfeit and poor quality goods. At the same time, promptly inform about the situation of natural disasters and images and activities of the People's Public Security Forces in disaster prevention, control, and search and rescue on the media and mass media.

Ngày 15/4, tại ấp Nam Chánh, xã Lịch Hội Thượng, huyện Trần Đề (tỉnh Sóc Trăng), Công an tỉnh đã trao 150 thùng nước suối loại 21 lít/thùng; 150 lốc nước đóng chai cho bà con. Bên cạnh đó, Phòng Cảnh sát Phòng cháy chữa cháy& Cứu nạn cứu hộ Công an tỉnh Sóc Trăng tăng cường 2 xe bồn chở nước sinh hoạt hỗ trợ người dân với số lượng gần 10m3.

Speaking to the press, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Ha (residing in Nam Chanh hamlet, Lich Hoi Thuong commune, Tran De district, Soc Trang province) said that people here have been lacking water for daily activities for a month now. A few days ago, people had to go into the commune center to get water for their family's daily activities. Now that the provincial police have provided clean water, people are very reassured and excited.
