Mr. Sun Guo Shan climbs mountains with his hands

According to Oddity Central, Sun Guo Shan, 38, started practicing hand climbing in May 2023. He set himself the goal of completing the climb of 50 of China's most famous mountains by spring 2025.

Sun used to work in education, but after the COVID-19 pandemic, he realized the importance of health. He decided to use his unique climbing method to inspire physical fitness and celebrate the majestic beauty of China's mountain landscapes in a unique way.

His journey to conquer the mountains began in May 2024, but Sun only really attracted attention in November, when a video recording the moment he conquered Haibat Peak - the highest peak of Wudang Mountain, 1,612 m high - by hand became famous.

Last December, he spent five hours climbing the 999 steps of Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, while doing a handstand. He admitted that it was the most challenging of the 34 mountains he has climbed by hand, falling nearly 100 times on the way to the top.

Sun hopes to complete his 50th ascent of the mountain by hand this spring and then apply for entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.
