On August 30, President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Datuk Hamidin Amin said that coach Park Hang Seo is one of the candidates applying to lead the Malaysian national team.
However, Coach Park Hang Seo's representative Lee Dong Jun denied the above information, emphasizing that the Korean coach has never applied or negotiated with FAM for the head coach position.

According to Mr. Lee Dong Jun, DJ Management Company and FAM have had discussions and agreements on many issues, but there is no content emphasizing that Coach Park will coach the Malaysian team, as stated by FAM President Datuk Hamidin Amin.
The person currently leading the Malaysian team is Mr. Pau Marti Vicente (Spanish), however Mr. Pau Marti Vicente is only an interim coach.
The Spanish strategist was hastily promoted to replace coach Kim Pan Gon (Korean), after Mr. Kim Pan Gon suddenly left the Malaysian team not long ago, returning home to lead the Ulsan Hyundai Club.
Mr. Kim Pan Gon received an offer from Ulsan Hyundai, after the team's coach Hong Myung Bo stepped up to lead the Korean national team.
After leaving the Vietnam national team in January 2023, Coach Park Hang Seo has not returned to coaching despite many rumors that he will lead the teams of Thailand, Indonesia, and India. Coach Park opened an international football academy in Vietnam and is also an advisor for the Bac Ninh Club.
