The men's and women's 200-meter finals took place on the afternoon of October 27. Ngan Ngoc Nghia and Tran Thi Nhi Yen finished first, thereby winning the gold medal. Previously, on the first day of competition on October 24, the pair of athletes also won the gold medal in the 100-meter distance.
Ngan Ngoc Nghia and Tran Thi Nhi Yen are currently the two number 1 sprinters in Vietnam. Ngan Ngoc Nghia holds the national record in the 200 meter event with a time of 20.74 seconds. The runner of the People's Public Security came in first on the afternoon of October 27 with a time of 21.20 seconds. Nguyen Van Chau came in second with a time of 21.17 seconds. Third place belongs to Dinh Hoang Quoc Bao with a time of 21.55 seconds.
Ngan Ngoc Nghia (number 330) won the 200 meter race.
Meanwhile, Tran Thi Nhi Yen came in first with a time of 23.9 seconds. Hoang Thi Minh Hanh came in second with 24.1 seconds. Third was athlete Phung Thi Hue with a time of 24.3 seconds.
On the medal tally as of October 27, the Army delegation leads with 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. Following them are the delegations from Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Tinh, etc. Tomorrow, October 28, is the final competition day of the tournament.
Tran Thi Nhi Yen (number 316) won the gold medal in the women's 200 meter event.
The 2023 National Athletics Championship will take place from October 24 to 28 at the National Military Training Center 4, Mieu Mon, Hanoi. This year's tournament will have 53 participating units, with a total of 474 athletes competing. All of Vietnam's best athletes will be present.
The tournament has 50 events, including 24 men's events, 24 women's events and 2 mixed relay events (4x100 meters and 4x400 meters).
