A video that was allegedly filmed at the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan has been circulating on social media this past week. According to the person who posted the video, Japanese union staff entered the embassy and acted inappropriately toward a male Vietnamese worker.
The incident created mixed public opinion about the behavior of Japanese union staff right on the premises of the Vietnamese Embassy.
Regarding this incident, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan said it had received information about inappropriate behavior towards Vietnamese citizens by a Japanese union.
On June 16, the Embassy's leadership invited representatives of the above-mentioned union leaders to directly protest and request that the union publicly apologize for the inappropriate behavior reported by the community.
Attending the meeting were representatives of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Japan.
At the meeting, the union and the individual union official who acted inappropriately expressed their deep apologies to the Embassy, the Vietnamese trainees involved, as well as the Vietnamese community in Japan for their inappropriate behavior; they realized that this had affected the image of the Representative Office and Vietnamese citizens.
The union representative also clearly reported on the trainees' process of coming to Japan, with many violations of the law (illegally escaping...) many times.
The union representative expressed gratitude to the Embassy for its coordination and support in bringing this intern back to the country on the morning of June 13.
The Embassy and the union had a frank discussion on related issues to find appropriate and timely solutions to avoid similar incidents in the future and to ensure the legitimate rights of Vietnamese interns.
On the same day, the company sending workers to Vietnam sent a dispatch to the Embassy reporting that the above trainee had entered Vietnam as planned and thanked the Embassy for actively coordinating and supporting the final resolution of the case.
