Some developments related to the Russia-Ukraine war:
Ukrainian MP proposes lowering military age
The age of men eligible for mobilization in Ukraine should be lower than the age allowed to vote for the Parliament, said Ukrainian MP Roman Kostenko.
According to the politician, if at the age of 21 a citizen of Ukraine could become a member of parliament, it means that he could be called up for military service a year earlier.

“ If the Constitution states that a person can become a parliamentarian at the age of 21, then he can certainly become a soldier at the age of 20 ,” said Mr. Kostenko.
According to him, this issue is being actively discussed on the sidelines of the US Congress. In particular, the US expressed doubts about the problem of mobilizing troops in Ukraine.
“ You say you have problems with mobilization. Why in some other countries you have to enlist from 18, and in your country from 25? This means you have no problems with mobilization ,” Mr. Kostenko emphasized.
What are the consequences of Ukraine joining NATO?
Alexei Polishchuk, Head of the Department of Former Soviet States of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that Kiev's accession to NATO under current conditions would end the possibility of a political and diplomatic solution to the conflict and would lead to the alliance's direct involvement in hostile actions against Russia.
“ We have repeatedly warned about the risk of Ukraine joining NATO ,” Mr. Polishchuk stressed.
According to the Russian diplomat, in the current conditions, the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO would end the possibilities of resolving the conflict through politics and diplomacy, making the alliance's direct involvement in hostile actions against Russia inevitable and leading to uncontrolled escalation; the responsibility for this would lie entirely with the West.
“ I hope that the NATO leadership has sensible politicians who are aware of the dire consequences that the very invitation to Ukraine to join NATO can cause ,” Mr. Polishchuk noted.
US has new move on Patriot air defense system in Ukraine
US Army Secretary Christine Wormuth confirmed that the Patriot air defense system in Ukraine is operated by US crews. These systems play an important role in protecting Ukraine from Russian missile attacks.
According to experts, the involvement of US military personnel raises questions about the cost and consequences for the country itself.
Ms. Wormuth emphasized that the deployment of Patriot systems in Ukraine is an important strategic step because they can effectively counter missile attacks.
However, the burden falls on the US military. Continuous frontline operations not only require significant financial costs but also overburden the crews operating these complexes.
Russia controls more territory in Donetsk
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that units of the Yug Operational Group have taken control of the Zoryanoye settlement in Donetsk.
According to Russia, an important railway line in the logistics supply route for the Ukrainian armed forces in Donbass passes through Gornyak. In addition, this town also has a number of large mineral deposits. If Ukraine loses this town, it will have a strong impact on the Ukrainian coal industry.
Zoryanoye is a village located 2 km southeast of Gornyak. Its capture gives Russia access to the outskirts of Gornyak, a town with a population of about 10,500, located 17 km northeast of Kurakhovo (Kurakhove) and 11 km southeast of Selidovo.
