My husband and I have been married for 30 years and have saved up some money. But when our son and daughter-in-law got married, we spent all of it on the wedding and to help our children buy a house. Even though we spent all our savings over the years, seeing our son settle down and have children made us feel that everything was worth it.
After my son got married, I tried many times to go to his house to take care of my pregnant daughter-in-law. But every time I was politely refused. My husband said I was worrying too much and was bringing trouble upon myself.
