According to the National Digital Transformation goal with a vision to 2030, Vietnam will become a digital nation, prosperously developing, pioneering the application of new technologies and new models; fundamentally and comprehensively innovating the management and operation methods of the Government; production and business of enterprises; lifestyle, work and study of people; developing a safe, humane, inclusive and widespread digital environment, leaving no one behind.

Vietnam has identified the dual goal of developing a digital government, digital economy, and digital society, while forming Vietnamese digital technology enterprises with global competitiveness to realize the aspiration of a strong and prosperous Vietnam, with prosperous, well-off and happy people.

According to the Prime Minister, 2023 is the year of national digital data, with the view that digital data is a national resource and the foundation of development. Therefore, Vietnam needs to seize and take advantage of opportunities to exploit and promote the value of digital data to become an important resource for serving the development of the digital economy, digital society, and digital citizens.

In recent times, the creation and exploitation of digital data has achieved many positive results in connecting and sharing data; exploiting data to serve people and businesses; developing digital data infrastructure; and digitizing data.

Accordingly, the national data integration and sharing platform operates effectively, and service capacity is enhanced with 1.6 million daily transactions.

The National Population Database received nearly 1.2 billion requests for information lookup and verification; the National Insurance Database verified information on over 91 million people with the National Population Database.

The electronic civil status database has over 45 million birth registration records, of which over 9.2 million children have been issued Personal Identification Numbers.

The national database on cadres, civil servants and public employees has connected and synchronized data with 100% of ministries, branches and localities; synchronized over 2.1 million cadre, civil servant and public employee data (reaching a rate of 95%).

The Government and Prime Minister's information system connects data with 80 ministries, branches, localities, corporations, and state-owned corporations and has shared daily and monthly testing data from ministries and branches to 15 localities to serve the direction and administration work.

The pioneering role of leading Vietnamese digital technology enterprises such as VNPT, FPT, Viettel... in deploying national and specialized databases, building digital platforms for small and medium enterprises, finance, payment and value-added services has contributed to promoting the growth of Vietnam's digital economy in recent times.
