No long interruptions
In recent days, at Hoa Huynh station (Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa), reporters recorded the highly concentrated work of transferring goods between stations through the Bai Gio tunnel congestion point (Dai Ninh, Van Ninh, Khanh Hoa).
On the platform, when a container train had just stopped, two cranes and three tractor-trailers were waiting.
In less than 10 minutes, the tractor left the station carrying a container of goods.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Tue has transported many containers from Hoa Huynh station to Dieu Tri station and vice versa.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Tue (52 years old, living in Nha Trang city, driving a tractor with license plate 79H-015.36) said he has been driving a cargo truck since April 15.
There is one trip every day, each trip carries 2 containers (both outbound and return) to Dieu Tri station (Binh Dinh) and combines transporting goods from Dieu Tri to Hoa Huynh station.
Goods arriving at the station are loaded onto trucks for transport as soon as possible.
"The route from Hoa Huynh to Dieu Tri is nearly 200km, quite a long distance. However, in recent days, I have seen the efforts of the railway industry in overcoming the tunnel collapse problem so that goods do not get stuck.
Therefore, I myself have to be more responsible in trying to drive safely and deliver goods on time for trains to continue transporting," said driver Tue.
Tractors take turns receiving transit goods.
Stopping the machine and getting down from the cabin, crane driver Nguyen Dinh Viet (37 years old, in Phuoc Dong, Nha Trang) said: "Due to the landslide in the pass tunnel, goods had to be transported by truck at this station, so I joined from the first day.
On average, each day, the crane lifts and unloads about 30 containers. Up to now, my crane has lifted about 150 containers onto and off trucks in time for the train to continue to the South."
According to information from the Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch, after the landslide incident at the Ca Pass railway tunnel, since April 13, the railway industry has temporarily stopped receiving goods on the Saigon - Hanoi route to wait for repairs to avoid congestion.
Railway workers actively load and unload goods under the hot sun.
Freight trains from the south do not pass through Hoa Huynh station, and from the north do not pass through Hoa Da station (Tuy An district, Phu Yen) and still operate normally.
An officer at Hoa Huynh station said that there are 5-6 pairs of trains per day, so the number of freight trains that need to be transported is quite large.
Transport units are actively loading containers from train cars to trucks to deliver to customers on time. All costs are paid by the railway industry, the shipper does not bear any additional costs.
Each crane cable tie is the responsibility of the freight service staff at Hoa Huynh station.
"The station is mobilizing trucks to prioritize transporting containers containing perishable goods first.
For refrigerated containers, the railway transport side has unloaded them from many stations to transport them by road to customers in time to avoid damage," this person said.
Customers do not have to pay any fees.
Speaking with Giao thong newspaper, Mr. Do Dinh Duoc, Deputy General Director of Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, said that after the Ca Pass railway tunnel collapse, 9 freight trains of the company had to stay at the stations: Giap Bat, Phu Cat, Phu My, Chi Thanh, Song Than.
The company mobilized human resources, cranes, and container trucks to promptly transport goods on many trains for timely delivery to the shipper.
As of April 19, Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company has transported 33 container cars by truck, equivalent to 881 tons of goods.
Safety checks before trucks leave the station are emphasized.
"No matter how difficult or costly it is, businesses must transit goods to ensure time and quality of goods.
This is an unfortunate incident for the railway industry, so we must try our best for the interests of the shippers," said Mr. Duoc.
At noon on April 12, the roof of the railway tunnel through Ca Pass (Km1231+100, section through Dai Lanh commune, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa) suddenly collapsed, about 180m3 of soil and rock fell onto the railway, causing difficulties for repair work.
The tunnel was built by the French in 1930 and put into operation in 1936. It is over 400m long, 5m high and 4m wide. After nearly 10 days and three landslides, the tunnel has not been cleared, causing congestion for passenger and cargo transportation.
