On the evening of June 15, the second competition night at the 2024 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) brought a series of surprises. The audience was continuously amazed by a series of eye-catching fireworks effects, in a breathtaking light battle between the newcomer US and the former champion Italy.

The dramatic confrontation between the US and Italy is interesting because one team knows the Da Nang audience very well, having won this competition twice, while the other team is an unknown.

But the common point of the two teams is that they come from a country with a fireworks heritage of more than 100 years.

The Italian team opened the competition night with the experience of winning DIFF twice in 2017 and 2018. With their experience and understanding of the audience, the team brought to their performance Vietnamese music hits such as "Emperor" by Dinh Dung and "Cat Doi Noi Sau" by Tang Duy Tan.

The lights in the sky and the music of the fireworks team from the boot-shaped country made the Vietnamese audience gasp in surprise and delight.

This year, the Italian team "played a trick" by using many low-altitude fireworks displays, creating unique light formations that interacted with the surface of the Han River.

The show began with a gentle melody like the murmur of a river. The elaborately designed fireworks burst into the sky, creating the shape of blooming flowers, lush green grass and shimmering white clouds.

Towards the end, the rhythm changes, becoming stronger and exploding with overwhelming waves of light like in blockbuster action movies.

No less than the Italian team, the US team, although an unknown, with more than 130 years of experience fighting around the world, brought an unforgettable fireworks display.

The team uses violin, rock, EDM, jazz background music and the latest pyrotechnic techniques.

Starting the competition with fireworks shooting up from along the Han River to the rhythm of flexible violins, the performance quickly changed to the powerful rock melody of legendary rock band Queen, combined with giant, colorful fireworks.

The space by the Han River lit up, the atmosphere in the stands was continuously pushed to a climax with each "blockbuster" high-altitude fireworks display on the vibrant EDM music.

The unknown from the US team received many cheers and excitement from the Han River audience, especially the high-altitude artillery climax.

Vibrant art space next to fireworks

Not only bringing a spectacular fireworks display, the second night of DIFF 2024 is also an artistic space full of vibrant music and light. The theme of "natural masterpieces" is clearly expressed through each performance, reflecting the cultural imprints of the participating countries.

After the second competition night, the following nights of DIFF 2024 will witness the competition between Germany - Poland (June 22), China - Finland (June 29) and the final night will take place on July 13.
