The 2024 Tet Giap Thin dragon mascot in Hue City is inspired by the Nguyen Dynasty dragon, 30m long, placed in the space in front of the gate of Hue National School, Quoc Hoc stele next to the Huong River and Le Loi Street.
The pair of dragon mascots in front of the Hue National University Stele are arranged in the "two dragons facing the moon" position, symbolizing the development of the country and Thua Thien - Hue province.
The dragon mascot creates a highlight in the space of the Spring Festival "Quintessence of Heaven and Earth - Breakthrough Transformation" on the banks of the Huong River.
Dragon scales simulate blue glazed tiles, a type of tile commonly used in relics in the ancient capital of Hue.
After the project was completed and put into use, it attracted a lot of tourists to visit.
In the photo, Ms. Tra Mi went out with her family and took the opportunity to take a photo with Hue's "dragon masterpiece".
The second dragon mascot that also attracts visitors' attention is the dragon placed in the park in front of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee headquarters.
The dragon mascot in this area is inspired by the image of the "National Seal of Trust" - a treasure of the Nguyen Dynasty.
Combined with the four elements of “Carp transforming into a dragon”, this design represents Hue’s constant transformation towards becoming a centrally-governed city by 2025.
The dragon shape "Phi long tai thien" (dragon flying in the sky) carries a majestic and leisurely aura among the blue clouds as a wish for a good new year, development and breakthrough for Hue City.
In addition, Hue this year also displays another pair of colorful dragons located at the Phu Xuan bridgehead. Every carp wants to pass Vu Long Mon, transform into a dragon to stand above all species, but not every carp has the qualities and abilities to transform into a dragon. That is the reason why people consider the image of a carp transforming into a dragon to represent peace, prosperity, and help advance in work, study, and life.
