Russia flattened the Ukrainian General Staff; Kiev destroyed the Russian air defense system... are the information about the Russia-Ukraine war situation on the morning of November 1.
Russia tightens Kursk, many Ukrainian soldiers killed
As Russia gradually tightened its siege at Kursk, the Ukrainian army decided to break the siege, but under enemy fire, Kiev soldiers suffered heavy losses.
In the Kursk region, although the Russian Army has not been able to completely encircle the northern Ukrainian army group, they have succeeded in dividing and blockaded many smaller areas.
At present, the situation shows that Ukrainian reinforcements are trying to attack the large Russian encirclement in order to break the encirclement and rescue the separated units. Meanwhile, the Russian Army is fiercely confronting Ukrainian reinforcements at weak points in the encirclement while purging the separated Ukrainian forces inside.

The Ukrainian army may have realized that the remaining units in the encirclement would not be able to hold out for long, so they began counterattacking and trying to break the encirclement, while the Russian army also deployed missile forces, using ballistic missiles to directly attack villages in the Ukrainian-held Kursk region, in order to speed up the cleanup operation.
The fiercest battles are still taking place on the road from Darino to Novoivanovka, including the areas east and south of Lyubimovka where fierce fighting has also broken out. Ukrainian reinforcements are fiercely counterattacking, but before they can reach the edge of the village, they are being pushed back.
According to observer Mikhail Zvinchuk, on October 29, the Russian army began a large-scale counterattack on the village of Novoivanovka after receiving reinforcements despite having been pushed out of the area. With the support of heavy artillery and armored vehicles, the Russian infantry successfully broke through from the western outskirts into the village.
Although the Ukrainians persisted in defending and counterattacked with armored vehicles, after losing several armored vehicles, their direct firepower was significantly reduced. The Russians took this opportunity to attack from the western area all the way to the eastern side of the village.
The Russians have now re-established their position in the western part of the village, but the position remains unstable, while the eastern part is in a stalemate. Due to the importance of the village, the Ukrainian army has mobilized the 47th Mechanized Brigade to launch a fierce counterattack.
With half a company and armored support, the Ukrainians launched three attacks on Russian positions. After losing 25 soldiers, they stopped the large-scale attack and switched to harassment tactics. According to initial estimates, the Ukrainians are mobilizing more forces and are expected to launch a new attack soon.
Near the village of Darino, after using thermobaric rockets and 3-ton bombs to attack the area, the Russian troops entered the western part of the village and advanced to the center.
Russia rains UAV storm on Ukraine's General Staff
Ramzan Kadyrov, leader of Russia's Chechen Republic, said Moscow's armed forces had launched a UAV attack on a building belonging to the Ukrainian General Staff.
TASS news site quoted Mr. Kadyrov as saying that the Russian military's drone attack on the Ukrainian General Staff was in " retaliation for the Kiev UAV attack on the morning of October 29 on a special forces training center in the city of Gudermes in Chechnya ."
“ The retaliation was carried out yesterday. At 4:00 and 5:30 a.m. on October 30, the Russian military carried out two attacks, using Geran UAVs, on the control center of the Ukrainian General Staff’s unmanned systems in Kiev. It was from this center that the UAVs, controlled by the Ukrainian side, flew to the city of Gudermes on October 29, ” Kadyrov wrote on Telegram.
According to the Chechen leader, this attack has left at least 9 people dead and 17 injured. Ukraine has not yet commented on the information shared by Mr. Kadyrov.
Earlier, Mr. Kadyrov said that the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermes, Chechnya on October 29 was attacked by Ukrainian UAVs, and this was the first time the Chechnya region had been attacked since the conflict between Moscow and Kiev broke out.
Ukrainian UAV destroys $25 million Russian air defense system
Recently, Ukraine used the US-made Switchblade-600 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to attack Russia's $25 million Tor short-range air defense system.
According to Newsweek, Ukraine's 14th Unmanned Air Systems Regiment released a video recording the Switchblade-600 UAV targeting and attacking Russia's Tor air defense system on the front line.
Ukraine said its military used two UAVs to destroy the Russian air defense system, but did not specify the time and location of the incident. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry has not commented.
According to the US-based Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Tor air defense system, which NATO calls the SA-15 Gauntlet, is a short-range mobile surface-to-air missile (SAM) system capable of detecting and intercepting targets at a distance of more than 16km. Each Tor system costs about $25 million, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
According to the 14th Ukrainian Regiment, the Tor system "is usually used to hunt UAVs". " But on a fine day, this role was reversed when the hunter became the prey ", the 14th Regiment emphasized.
Ukraine is believed to have attacked several Russian air defense systems such as Tor, Buk, Pantsir, and S-400 during the conflict.
Russian Su-34 bombers drop bombs that shake Kursk
In the Kursk area, thanks to a significant increase in support troops from Ukraine, the situation was dramatically turned around, although it did not relieve the army group north of Kursk, but prevented the Russians from narrowing the encirclement.
With the Russians also mobilizing more forces, the Ukrainian Army is concerned that, when Russia is strong enough, they will continue to launch a large-scale counterattack. Therefore, the Ukrainian Army wants to capture some important base points before the Russian support troops arrive, especially the line from Tolstoy Lug to Novovanivka.
The Ukrainian army has mobilized its best forces here, and spared no expense in bringing in heavy military equipment from the US and Germany.
According to observer Yury Podoljaka, on October 28, the Ukrainian Army launched seven attacks on Zelenyi Shlyakh, Novovanivka and surrounding areas. With the support of Panthers tanks (Germany) and Abrams tanks (US) along with Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, the Ukrainian Army launched a strong attack on the area west of the village of Novovanivka.
With strong direct fire, despite losing 2 Panthers tanks, the Ukrainian Army drove out the main force of the Russian Army in the western region and successfully controlled most of the village. However, there are still some houses under the control of the Russian army.
Meanwhile, the main Russian forces are regrouping on the western outskirts of the villages of Novovanivka and Zelenyi Shlyakh, calling in heavy mechanized forces for support. It is expected that the Russians will launch a counterattack soon.
The village of Novovanivka lies right next to Route 38K-030. If the Ukrainians capture this village, they can encircle the village of Zelenyi Shlyakh, then control Route 38K-030, and finally advance north along this road to rescue the rest of the Ukrainian group north of Kursk, and even coordinate with this group to counterattack the village of Orgovka.
Therefore, the Russians could not afford to lose Novovanivka at any cost. Meanwhile, the Russians intensified their attack on the remains of the Ukrainian group north of Kursk, which was still hiding in the Skayaroshcha forest south of Orgovka.
In addition, the Russians also intensified their attack on the village of Darino south of Tolstoy Lug. If they captured this village, the Russians could move closer to the village of Sverdlikovo and control the 38K-030 road from the south, completely blocking the Ukrainian army's advance towards Zelenyi Shlyakh and Novovanivka.
The Ukrainian army also understood this, so they continuously mobilized more reserve forces to the village of Darino. To capture this village, the Russian army used TOS-1A flamethrower tanks to fire here a few days ago, then mobilized Su-34 aircraft to drop heavy bombs.
