* Russia is sending a nuclear deterrence signal to the United States and members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) by reviewing its nuclear doctrine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on October 22.
According to him, this consideration is based on the experience of the special military operation in Ukraine and everything "related to the widespread support of Western countries for the Kiev government", so Moscow expects the US and other NATO countries to grasp these deterrent signals.
"We are not seeking a broader conflict, but we will not tolerate relentless attacks on the fundamental security of the country and its people," Ryabkov said. (TASS)
* BRICS (Group of the world's leading emerging economies) is not discussing the admission of new members this year, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. He clarified that since January 1, 2024, the size of BRICS has almost doubled and the adjustment period for new members has not yet been completed.
BRICS - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, recently expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - is holding its summit from October 22-24 in the Russian city of Kazan. (TASS)
* The European Parliament (EP) has agreed to lend Ukraine 35 billion Euros (38 billion USD) from the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank. The EP passed this decision with 518 votes in favor, 56 votes against and 61 abstentions. (AFP)

Asia-Pacific
* China and India reached a resolution on the border dispute after maintaining close communication through diplomatic and military channels. The two sides reached an agreement on patrolling and the disengagement process has been completed. In the coming time, the two countries will cooperate to properly implement the agreement. (THX)
* North Korea has denied "baseless speculation" from South Korea and Ukraine that Pyongyang is sending troops to join Russia in a special military operation in Ukraine, and asserted that its relations with Moscow are "legitimate and cooperative".
* South Korea has threatened to take "phased measures" in response to growing military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, and demanded that Pyongyang immediately withdraw its troops from Russian territory.

* Hezbollah set fire to Israeli tanks in southern Lebanon on October 22, and claimed to have attacked several locations across Israel, including the base of military intelligence unit 8200 located on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, the Stella Maris naval base west of Haifa and the Nirit area on the outskirts of Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, an Israeli airstrike near Rafik Hariri hospital, south of the capital Beirut, the night before, killed 13 people (including a child) and injured 57 others. (AFP)
* All neighboring countries have pledged to Iran not to allow Israel to use their territory to launch a retaliatory attack against Tehran, according to the Islamic Republic's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

* US Secretary of State Antony Blinken traveled to the Middle East on October 22 to promote solutions to de-escalate regional conflicts. He first arrived in Israel to meet with the country's leaders.
