A statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry asserted that Ukraine must have known that its actions could cause a full-scale nuclear disaster.
"We call on all governments to strongly condemn Kiev's actions. They are extremely dangerous and can lead to irreparable consequences," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
Moscow said earlier on October 27 that it had thwarted a drone attack. Two news agencies said an explosion damaged the facade of a nuclear waste storage facility.
Ms Zakharova said one explosive-laden UAV damaged the perimeter walls of the nuclear waste disposal facility. Two others attacked the administrative building complex.
"According to preliminary data, the drones used in the attack on the nuclear power plant used components supplied by Western countries," she said.
The attack caused no casualties, radiation levels and operations at the plant remained normal, the Kursk power plant said.
Ukraine routinely refuses to confirm or deny carrying out military operations inside Russian territory.
The incident occurred on the evening of October 26, a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russian UAVs of attacking the Khmelnitskyi area in western Ukraine, the target could be the nuclear power plant there.
The UN nuclear watchdog said the attack destroyed “numerous windows” at the site but did not affect the Ukrainian plant’s operations or its connection to the power grid.
Reuters could not independently confirm either incident.
