With the support of NAPAS, VietQR codes have been provided to traders at Ben Thanh Market shopping points, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists to visit, shop and pay safely. This creates favorable conditions for traders to reduce labor costs as well as strictly manage finances. I appreciate today's program and in the near future we will replicate this model in traditional markets as well as business streets in District 1".
Through surveys, many markets and stores across the country have now applied a variety of cashless payment methods such as bank transfer, VietQR code scanning, and card payment to help customers shop more conveniently. This stems from people's need for cashless payments.
As a long-time trader at Ben Thanh market, Mr. Tran Minh Quan, Tien My stall - shop 59, also shared: " Since the VietQR code was introduced, buyers and traders have enjoyed many benefits. We do not need to prepare cash to buy and sell like before. The most convenient thing is that the VietQR code allows very fast transactions with customers, saving time and limiting the risk of disease transmission such as Covid" . Sharing the same view, Ms. Ngoc (stall 734) also commented that diversifying payment methods is an opportunity to reach customers, making business more convenient.
Not only at Ben Thanh market, the program "Stick code for cashless payment" also took place very enthusiastically in Phu Nhuan district, Ho Chi Minh City. At the People's Committee of Phu Nhuan district, people when paying for public services will be guided to scan QR codes for faster, safer and more convenient transactions.
Commenting on the significance of the program, Mr. Nguyen Dong Tung - Chairman of Phu Nhuan District People's Committee emphasized: " Cashless payment has now spread to daily life, including the field of public service payment. This form meets many factors, bringing convenience - safety and savings to people. I hope that today's activity will spread more and more and contribute to gradually promoting national digital transformation so that each citizen will become a digital citizen" .
In the role of a bridge between banks, payment intermediaries with people and businesses, Mr. Nguyen Dang Hung - Deputy General Director of NAPAS affirmed that Cashless Day is held annually with more and more activities of practical significance for people, not only convenient in daily life but also contributing to promoting public service payments, towards the Government's goal of cashless payments.
“Today’s cashless code pasting activity is a new feature compared to previous years, bringing a useful experience to consumers, helping small traders and business households manage and conduct financial transactions in the easiest way. We identify promoting cashless payments as a long-term and urgent goal in Vietnam, so in the coming time, NAPAS will continue to promote the popularization of cashless payments to people nationwide, ” said Mr. Hung.
Representative of the organizing unit, Mr. Tran Xuan Toan - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre newspaper also praised the results obtained during the activity: " In just one afternoon of implementation at Phu Nhuan District People's Committee, more than 50% of public service payments were made using VietQR code" . Mr. Toan expects that in the next 6 months of implementing VietQR code, the number of cashless transactions when paying for public services will increase to 80%. This not only brings convenience to people when going to notary public service units to pay fees, but also helps units to store and settle accounts in the long term. In particular, it shortens the time to process work and saves on human resources costs.
The events in the series “Cashless Day 2023” will continue to be coordinated by NAPAS with Tuoi Tre newspaper and banks from now until the end of June 2023.
