NAPAS officially launches TAP & PAY mobile payment service

Developing digital technology on mobile devices

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, by 2023, the proportion of adults using smartphones in our country will reach about 73.5%. It is forecasted that by 2026, the number of smartphone users will reach 67 million, second only to Indonesia, the most populous country in the region.

With people's smartphone usage habits increasing, payment experts rate most technology companies as having developed digital technology for mobile devices.

The goal is to meet the increasingly popular consumer demand for making purchases and payments on smartphones.

As a national retail payment infrastructure provider, NAPAS said it is always proactive in researching, updating and applying the latest payment technologies to provide convenient, fast and safe payment solutions for people and businesses.

Most recently, on December 24, NAPAS officially launched the Tap & Pay mobile payment service - a digital solution for NAPAS cards on the banking application (Mobile Banking App). With this service, customers can use their smartphones to make payment transactions instead of having to carry a physical card.

Payment completed in just a few seconds

To use this service, according to NAPAS, customers will register with the NAPAS card issuing bank to integrate the physical card features on the Mobile Banking App. The payment process is simple and easy by touching the phone to the card payment acceptance machine (POS or soft POS), the payment transaction will be completed in just a few seconds.

Sharing about the service deployment goal, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh - General Director of NAPAS - said that the Tap & Pay mobile payment service is part of the mobile payment development roadmap on the contactless chip card technology platform and digital infrastructure of NAPAS.

The service is expected to contribute to promoting customers' spending habits using NAPAS cards by providing a modern, convenient, safe and fast payment experience for users.

At the time of launching the Tap & Pay service, NAPAS cooperated with Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank to provide the service to customers. In the coming time, NAPAS said it will continue to expand the service to the remaining member organizations.

When the service is widely deployed, the Tap & Pay mobile payment method will be accepted at a network of nearly 900,000 NAPAS card payment acceptance points nationwide.

Previously in 2023, NAPAS launched the Tap to Phone service market - a digital solution for mobile payment acceptance devices (soft POS).

This service is considered a powerful support tool for customers when it allows card accepting units to use mobile phones or tablets as a POS machine for contactless card payments. Thereby promoting safe digital payments and forming cashless payment habits in Vietnam...

NAPAS cards issued by Vietnamese banks and financial companies have product lines including debit cards, prepaid cards, credit cards and dual cards that integrate both debit and credit cards in one physical card. NAPAS cards apply advanced chip technology to enhance security, safety and security, and help prevent fraudulent and counterfeit card transactions.

Regarding payment scope, NAPAS cards can not only be used for domestic payments but can also be used for payments at card acceptance points and/or cash withdrawals at ATMs in Korea, Thailand, Laos...
