At My Tan fishing port, Thanh Hai commune (Ninh Hai), to prevent IUU fishing, the authorities control all fishing vessels entering and leaving, monitor the amount of seafood loaded and unloaded through the port; check fishing logs, boat books, voyage logs... Thanks to the active and synchronous implementation of solutions, fishermen have raised their awareness of law enforcement in seafood exploitation. Fisherman Nguyen Thanh Hau, owner of fishing vessel NT 90110 TS, which goes to sea twice a month, each trip lasting 15 days, in the Da Lat island area, Truong Sa archipelago, said: I have been informed by the Department of Fisheries and the locality that I absolutely do not exploit in foreign waters, only exploit in Vietnamese waters to ensure safety. When the fishing vessel leaves the port until it arrives at the port, the voyage monitoring device must be turned on continuously so that the authorities can monitor and supervise. In case of signal loss, the equipment supplier must be notified for handling. When entering the port, report the catch and submit all documents to the authorities for inspection. Only after signing all documents can the fishing vessel continue to leave the port.

Directly checking the fishing vessel records of fishermen, Mr. Huynh Hai, Head of My Tan fishing port, said: Through the process of mobilizing and our actual inspection, up to this point, almost all fishermen have complied well with the regulations on combating IUU fishing. Fishermen have complied with all types of books and documents required for fishermen to go to sea to exploit seafood and have complied with the regulations.
According to the provincial Fisheries Department, the province currently has 2,302 fishing vessels, of which 869 fishing vessels from 15m and above have been granted fishing licenses; 862/862 fishing vessels in operation have been equipped with voyage monitoring devices, reaching 100%. Through propaganda and monitoring of the fishing vessel data system, many cases of fishing vessels at risk of crossing maritime boundaries to exploit seafood have been detected and warned, thanks to which in 2023 and by June 2024, there were no cases of Ninh Thuan fishing vessels participating in illegal exploitation or violating foreign waters being arrested.
The work of tracing the origin of exploited products has also been seriously implemented, 100% of fishing vessels operating in offshore areas are inspected before leaving and arriving at port. The province has also organized instructions on the implementation of the electronic seafood traceability software system on February 21, 2024. Up to now, the provincial Border Guard forces, provincial fishing ports, and the Department of Fisheries have all been able to participate in operating the system. The Provincial People's Committee has also directed fishing ports to organize instructions on software installation for 3,878 cases.

In the coming time, the province will continue to strengthen inspection and control at seaports, resolutely not allowing fishing vessels to participate in seafood exploitation for vessels that have not installed voyage monitoring, have not marked fishing vessels, and have not been granted licenses. Prevent fishing vessels that show signs of violating permitted boundaries at sea when illegally exploiting seafood. Strictly handle cases of IUU fishing violations and widely publicize violations so that fishermen know. In particular, cases of fishing vessels that engage in seafood exploitation but deliberately do not install or install VMS equipment but do not maintain signals during operations at sea; violate foreign waters to exploit seafood. Make a list of fishing vessels that have not installed VMS; organize the exploitation, operation, and effective use of the fishing vessel monitoring system to monitor and supervise fishing vessels operating at sea. Continue to properly organize the implementation of regulations on controlling fishing vessels entering and leaving ports, controlling seafood output unloaded through ports to ensure the chain; Carry out traceability of exploited seafood according to regulations by checking and comparing data from fishing logs, national fisheries database and fishing vessel monitoring system.
