The Tam Truoc saltwater prevention sluice project (Tan Qui 2 hamlet, An Phu Tan commune) is expected to be completed and put into operation at the end of the first quarter of 2025.
In this, dredging of 42 intra-field canals and groups with a length of more than 30km was carried out with a total investment of 3.15 billion VND; reinforcement and repair of landslides on the Hau River road, in An Phu Tan commune, Ninh Thoi, nearly 100m long, with a cost of 1.2 billion VND; installation of 70 manhole covers and maintenance and repair of agricultural, rural and irrigation infrastructure works on rice fields... with a total cost of nearly 2 billion VND.
According to comrade Pham Van Kha, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cau Ke district: the implementation of the above projects will contribute to ensuring irrigation water sources, preventing salinity, storing fresh water and responding to high tides to serve the production area for 4,450 hectares (3,100 hectares of rice land and 1,450 hectares of fruit trees) of 4,686 households.
In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tra Vinh also implemented the construction of 05 saltwater prevention sluices in Tan Qui Islet, An Phu Tan Commune, with a total cost of over 53 billion VND. The above projects will be completed and put into use in the second quarter of 2025; contributing to preventing saltwater intrusion and protecting nearly 700 hectares of fruit gardens in Tan Qui Islet.
